Brooks Hatch : Monday 5/31: NCAA tournament tidbits

Nice job Beavs! Go catch a wave and ride like we've seen before! Hey Brooks - I remember last year at this time either you or Cliff had a post that noted that OSU was one of only about 12 schools (or so) in the nation that: 1. Made a bowl game 2. Made a post-season tourney in Men's hoops 3. Made the Baseball tourney Well, the Beavs just did in again in '09-'10! Ok, two CBI's are not that impressive - but shouldn't diminish the overall feat, otherwise more schools would have done it. I would be surprised if there were more than 6 schools who have done this the last two years.... Any way you could dig that up for us if you aren't already working on it?! Thanks, Gregg

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Camp Day 7

If he plays in games 1 & 2, he will obviously play some in other games - just doubting that he'd start - which is what I would expect if you are going to burn a redshirt. Would love for Wheaton to prove that he the Lou Gehrig of wide receivers (and returners) - but I still have high hopes for Catchings (Spring Football Kool-Aide?) - who was dealing with un-diagnosed diabetes last year.

So basically, Riley is saying that Wheaton had already passed Walker as the #2 Flanker, and would be considered instantly ahead of Munoz for Split End, despite not playing there yet. And apparently ahead so much that they are ready to consider burning his redshirt for perhaps only the first two games, assuming Catchings is back for the Cincinnati game? Coaching staff knows more than me, but man, this is the exact opposite logic that they are applying to Philipp (or Quizz from last year) - either plan on starting all season, or else redshirt.

So Bishop, Walker, and Munoz are not getting a look at Split End? I love the fact that Wheaton is turning heads, but still a big believer in redshirting. Let's not burn a whole season of development when we have such depth at the position.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : 60 years of Gill, greyshirts

Are there any updated photos for the design of Gill? The only ones that I saw were nice but were from a long time ago and pretty limited...

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Greyshirt list

I like the idea of Dunn greyshirting if he won't be able to practice with the team until late August. I want him to get tons of reps this season in practice to learn the offense, and build some chemistry with Katz and Lalich, then in 2010 explode on the scene. Bizarre that Riley wouldn't just pick up the phone and talk to Kyrell. Maybe the rules don't allow that? Big bummer that we're probably going to lose this guy.
