You're right. there isn't much we can do but increase awareness and choose the better subbing groups. For instance with awareness will come newer subbing groups. groups are made all the time and if demand is high for old school subbing, they will come. Also if you have an option of 2 subbing groups for the same anime, choose the subs you prefere.
