I "try" to always have some kind of centerpiece--fresh flowers in a vase, bowl of fruit--and right now I still have candles left over from holiday decor on the table, but with the garland and poinsettias removed. They are in large clear holders filled with mixed nuts (in the shell.) Children leave things on the table occasionally, but I do try to keep it clear.
