As a Jew myself and a Republican that was once (sadly) a Democrat, liberal Jews still live mentally in the 1930's Nazi Germany mindset. Meaning liberal Jews view today's liberal politicians like the FDR, JFK types who liberated the Jews from concentration camps. You know, the 20th century American loving Democrats unlike the commies we have running the country now. They have no concept of this new form of extreme liberalism called "progressive-ism" that are against free speech, free markets, etc. They wholeheartedly (but foolishly) believe that what happened in Europe will never happen here. So voting for a progressive is not a threat to their freedoms in their eyes. On top of that, Jews have always voted for people who do them no good. My father always said, the Jews voted in Hitler. Why? Because Hitler was a great speaker during a time when people were suffering. Sound familiar? In fact, most Jews in Nazi Europe had no clue what the trains were for and the so called "showers" until it was too late. They live in a "can't happen to me" world. Basically, Jews love to be BS'd. They try to believe in the good in people even at their own demise. As a culture, they make excuses for other people's bad behavior and therefor do not defend themselves. Now, on the contrary, Israel is a country of Jews who counter these beliefs because they live in a world where evil has always surrounded them, unlike American Jews. They have a much better understanding of world threats where American Jews have a better understanding of Lord & Taylor and Hollywood awards shows. To summarize, it's very difficult to understand why liberal Jews think the way they do. I once read a book called, "Why Jews Are Liberals", by Normal Podhoretz. It was a fascinating read going into hundreds of years of history. At one time, Jews were persecuted by the church (albeit hundreds of years ago) and for some crazy reason their minds are still stuck on the premise that the Enlightenment Movement in Europe (a massive secular movement that fought the Christians) took the sides of the Jews, but not for their benefit. Problem is, the Jews are still living in the past and times are reversed. The secular progressives are now the enemy of the Jews, but the Jews still manage to convince themselves that Christianity is still out to get them. Since progressives are mostly Anti-Christian, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. But the old friend is now the new enemy and they haven't figured that out yet. I fight with liberal family members all the time. Their wacky logic is so engrained it drives me up a wall! But I think as more and more Jewish American teenagers today travel to Israel and see soldiers their age fighting for their lives they are getting more of a sense that life can change and that weak progressive American foreign policy is not in their best interest. When I got older I realized that although the Democrat party was "supposed" to be the party of the people, it's become the party that lies to the people to get votes. It's the party that pressures people to pay more taxes for the sake of others who have done the least. Parasitic groups like ACORN have sadly confused the poor into believing they are in good hands and have their interests at heart. Similar to the way slick mortgage brokers lied to the same group of people when they convinced them to take out mortgages they simply couldn't afford.
