I am a Vietnam veteran, Chicago Business owner and a card carrying Republican and I occupy!
I am one of your so called “leaders” of Occupy Chicago. We have over 100 of them.
I am occupying to get money out of politics and this amendment passed: http://youtu.be/G9qZZVqSQdo
I am occupying to make sure our government maintains a peaceful country
with opportunity for the next generation to pursue it's goals and dreams.
I am occupying to make sure the bill of rights enumerated in our constitution is not taken away from the next generation.
I am occupying to make sure that the next generation does not have to die in a war of aggression started by our country.
In short I am occupying for YOU. My goal is participatory democracy.
My most interesting experience was my first day when I discovered ordinary people like you and me. Mothers, daughters, fathers, sons, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles grandparents and grandchildren all occupying and caring about the homeless, diseased, physically challenged, mentally challenged, and those who made more money than themselves. I met people with homes sharing with people about to lose their own home. I said to myself, "This is what democracy looks like." and decided I had to be a part of it.
Hope this helps. Keith Smith
