The Dems have indicated there are a few hundred Billion in waste and fraud in Medicare, not my words, theirs. They are also double-counting (says the CBO) those savings in Medicare by saying that $500B will help prolong the solvency of Medicare while also using that $500B to spend on new healthcare entitlements...can't do both. That to me is typical of gov't run programs.
You seem to be lock stock and barrel on the Dem side and have an argument ready on any topic, why do you owe them such loyalty? Gov't is failing us, is bloated and wasteful, regardless of Dem or GOP. The waste in the $787 stimulus bill is well documented and ridiculous....had to be passed so quickly yet most of it isn't spent yet....AND they indirectly now say it's a failure by saying they need another $155B from unspent Tarp debt (debt, not money)....when most of the $787 isn't spent yet! That's insane.
Dems made deals too, with Big Pharma, a mere $80B kicked in to save themselves over a Trillion. It's why Big Pharma jumped on board from the start (no open market, no Canadian drugs, no new regs), and why the legal community jumped on board too (no tort reform). Both sides have their hands dirty with lobbyists and behind closed doors deal making. And the buying of votes for this healthcare bill is disgusting....$300B for the Louisiana Senator, $100B for the Nebraska Senator and so on....you can't be proud of that??? That's the Change you voted for in Washington? "It'll be on C-Span" yeah right. What a joke. I'd have more respect if he didn't sell 'Change' and not deliver. I had some hope, but most of it is gone now, mostly thanks to Pelosi and Reid....ugly 'we got the votes and don't care what you think' politics.
Single payer would be a nightmare for a country this size. I'm for lots of reforms and more competition and healthcare for the 30M plus that don't have it today or anytime during the year when they are between jobs etc. I'm for all of that, but why not full country-wide competition like auto insurance? Why not tort reform? Why? Because the Dems have the votes and don't need to accept any ideas from the GOP that they don't like....the Dems made their deals with Big Pharma and Legal lobbyists already, among others. No side is holier than thou.
We as free thinking independently minded tax paying citizens owe loyalty to NO politician, to no partisan side left or right. We should hold all of our elected officials' feet to the fire and no side has the monopoly on good ideas.

Medicare, SS etc. are near bankrupt, Postal Service loses money, I mean give me a break. And if there really is upwards to $500B in fraud and waste in the current Medicare system, well, that's my point! And go clean that up first, today if it's possible! The Dem argument for restrictions and gov't option or single payer is very weak and Americans have figured that out.

Considering Brady was coming off of knee surgery, and threw for 4,000+ yards, I think we should consider ourselves lucky and be happy with winning the AFC East and being the 3 seed. We probably over achieved all things considered. 2010 will be better with Brady being 100%, in the groove, and Tate and Welker and more weapons etc. We expect too much sometimes I think.
Why did the pats kick that line drive kick-off after their 2nd touchdown in the 3rd qtr? It gave the Ravens the ball at the 50! Bad coaching. Why did the Patriots offense look predictable and execute horribly, bad coaching, bad play calling, bad preparation. Even when Welker comes back and Tate heals up and others heal up, if O'Brien is still calling the same vanilla plays (same screens, same draw play etc.) the Pats will be competitive, but won't be innovative and explosive again.

Pats need a new/seasoned/professional Offensive Coordinator. Someone who's creative, innovative, doesn't just use the same old plays Josh and Weis created previously.
I had hoped the vanilla offense we saw in the regular season was a ploy, keeping the creative plays for the playoffs....boy was I wrong! Why did we never see a double pass with Edleman or Steinbach throwing a pass out of a wildcat formation or a lateral pass from Brady? Josh/Weis did that at key points in games against the Steelers for instance and it really shook things up....but nope. Just predictable same old offense. The Offense really let the team down today....even after all the mistakes in the 1st quarter, the D kept things close and the Pats had the ball near midfield several times....3 and out, 3 and out, 6 and out.....they could have made it a 10 pt game in the 1st half and a one score game in the 3rd quarter but the offense was COMPLETELY inept and vanilla garbage. Yes, Welker was out and Moss and Brady were banged up, but I just think the play calling and execution were horrific.
Flacco was 4 of 10 for 34 yards and 1 INT gimme a break.....if you can't beat a team who's QB is that terrible, you don't deserve to be in the playoffs period. O'Brien has got to go.
