It's foolish to think that this is not going to cost a lot of money. Somebody is going to have to pay for these great medical benefits, and that "somebody" is the middle class, you and me. The cost of medical insurance is going to skyrocket. For people not covered by their employer, it will be far cheaper to just pay the "tax" each year. So, the federal government is going to see more money coming in, but insurance companies are going to see only a small increase in people getting insurance, but huge expenses for things they have to cover. And, quite frankly, I'm less thrilled to be paying for abortions.
I agree with you. God can certainly take very horrible things and turn them into blessings. Who knows how this will all shake out. He could be back on the streets, a hopeless drunk, in six months, or this could turn his life around and give his life meaning.

Komen and the American Cancer Society are "Big Business," and that business is not finding a cure for cancer as evidenced by the fact that only 25% of their program money goes to research. The American Cancer Society is worse . . . only around 17% of your dollar goes to research. Maybe they do offer other programs, but don't sell yourself as trying to find a cure, when you clearly are not! Give your cancer dollars directly to researchers, like Fred Hutch.
