I was perplexed by the number of people who were offended by the viewpoint of those who choose to be childfree. Why do they find it so offensive? Are they coming from the point of view that "thou shalt go forth and multiply" and anyone who chooses not to is a sinner, or at the very least, missing some crucial gene? It's a lifestyle choice, plain and simple. Choosing not to have kids is a choice, just like some people choose not to travel or choose not to own a home. Why is it anyone else's business? As some have already pointed out, these people should be applauded for recognizing that they do not want to go down that road, for whatever reason, and sticking to that decision. How many children are born to indifferent and sometimes cruel parents and suffer because of it? Are the anti-childfree people offended then? They'd better be because that is when their ire would be truly appreciated. I have one child and I love him deeply. We chose to become parents, but I do not begrudge anyone who decides not to become a parent. It's a personal choice, period.
