I cannot believe this is happening in America.I feel like I am living under a dictator. Are our elected officials stupid (never mind that ?), do they not know if they destroy America, it will harm everyone, including their families?

AARP does not look after anyone but their own interests. A friend has AARP supplement insurance and they are already calling to advise her on ways to take care of her knee problem without surgery as recommended by her M.D..
She was livid. more to come if government gets more power and control with their health care plans.
Obama and company all need to be forced to have the same health care as they are trying to impose on us.

I never thought I would see this happening in America. Our constitution is being torn to shreds. Why try hard if your reward is to give away what you have to make us all equal (except for the government elite).
Our government wants to kill babies and old people and in that way cut costs?
Maybe tort reform. stop illegals and anchor babies, get government out of health care would work a lot better.

As many of you have already noted here, government is the problem, not the solution..
"Free" health care will lead to more abuses of the system. In my opinion, the problem with paying for health care really started with the government intervention in the late 60's when we got Medicare and Medicaid with the "DRG". No matter what complications, the costs were the same for the procedure. Adding so much government "paper work" required hiring more people to just deal with this.. Now private insurance companies must jump through so many government regulations that it has become big business with out of control costs.Why would we expect government take over of the rest of our health care to be better (with less fraud and abuse) than Medicare and Medicaid. Isn't that the definition of insanity!
We must get back to less control and direct access to our doctors without all the other parties trying to get a piece of the health care dollar. Everyone has to pay for their own health care in one way or another.Neighborhood clinics could replace using the emergency room as primary care facilities. Send illegals home until they can come on green cards. Get rid of government rules that make you buy more insurance than you need and that does not allow true free choice on insurance.We really need insurance only to cover the big bills and should pay our own office visits or use clinics.
I am so upset at the direction we are going and the speed at which our government is pushing. as Glenn would say, blood is about to shoot out of my eyes ARRGGG

My solutions include for our elected officials:Term limits, any bills they pass, must apply to them, no special health care, retirement plans or voting their own raises. Pass the fair tax.

Great post with solutions that allow the private sector to take care of the problem. We do have the best care but as you stated illegal immigrants, government regulations, drug companies costs, and malpractice lawsuits are at the root of the problems. Open up insurance across state borders so we have real competition, get government out of the way and watch "we the people" solve this mess.
Start by closing the borders, no more anchor babies.Then let us know the costs so we can chose to limit as long as we get the care we need.For example,avoid new drugs that really work no better than older ones but cost much more.
It is overwhelming all the changes our government is trying to do to our country without reading or understanding any bills they are signing. Anything this important does not need to be done quickly. I feel like I am living in the twilight zone.
Vote them all out (make term limits happen), put them all under any bills they pass (including health care), Pass the fair tax. Retake our power and enforce our constitution.
