In under an hour I've seen it go from 22,000 to 19,000 (on the petition page) and back up to 25,000 (main page). VERY goofy indeed. But that means we've picked up 3,000 signatures in 40 minutes. That's pretty good. :)

I'm seeing the same thing. Here's an email I just sent off to Glenn and Stu:

"I've been following the petition you created based on the letter Glenn read on the air yesterday (I'm signature #31!). I clicked on the link today at around 1:00 PM, and it had 22,817 signatures - that's in a little over 24 hours. However, when I clicked back to it seconds later so that I could link to it, I got a page saying that it was "temporarily" taken down due to the heavy load it was putting on their servers. However, if you go to their main site and browse the most popular petitions at this link, http://www.thepetitionsite.com/browse-petitions, and click on the other two petitions in the top three, you will find that they are NOT blocked. Judging from the content of the rest of the petitions on the site, I'm guessing it's not at all related to traffic. I think it's politically motivated. How do we follow up on that? I'd love for you guys to call them out on the radio tomorrow or something.

"In the meantime, I'm posting this on the 9/12 Project website. Together I'm sure we can turn their precious little liberal server into a weeping pile of molten metal."

So, guys, what do you say? There's over 600,000 of us. Let's ALL go to the petition site RIGHT NOW and keep refreshing it until we don't even see their cute little traffic message lie anymore. :D

If Klein thinks that the solution to Chile's problems was stimulus spending, she obviously hasn't done her homework. Chile only turned around due to the privatization of the industries Allende nationalized, the reduction of foreign debt, and the implementation of macroeconomic policies design to control inflation. Stimulus spending would only increase inflation, and if we keep going the way we are now, we're going to see plenty of it.

Company bailouts was also tried in Japan in the 80's. Didn't work out so well, either.

Wow, so GE is pissing off both their potential customers (who are ditching MSNBC) and their shareholders, by refusing to adopt a business model with all their business units that will help the company making more money AND slashing the dividend for the first time since 1938. This sounds like exactly the kind of "too big to fail" company that our government really needs to start investing in, because it clearly won't stand on its own.

You wanna know what's REALLY unhealthy? How about the fact that:

1) Everyone in DC and the media seems to think these tea parties are about taxes, not spending and debt,
2) Everyone at the tea parties thinks its about spending and debt, and *future* taxes, and
3) The majority of the nation - media, politicians, citizens, and possibly even some 9/12ers - does NOT understand that the real tax here is going to be INFLATION. 10% inflation is pretty much a "stealth tax" equal to a 10% tax, not just on what you *earn*, but also on what you *have*!

With the Fed printing money day and night, my worry is that 10% inflation will be nothing but a pleasant memory... It's our duty to educate people that these tea parties are about spending, debt, AND taxation - stealth taxation - through inflation, and how that taxation works. So, Obama wants to be friends with Chavez, bows to the Saudis, apologizes to the French and the Russians (whose ex-KGB prime minister clearly has his eyes set on USSR-era power), continues and increases the long-standing practice of endebtedness to China, disavows his religion to the Turks, and wants to open up diplomatic ties with Iran (building nuclear missiles to shoot at our ally, Israel), Cuba (once pointed nuclear at us in behalf of the Russians), and North Korea (building nuclear missiles to shoot at us or our allies).

I feel so safe with all our new friends, comrades, and fellow travelers out there in the world!
