Personally, I didn't have a problem with Parnell coming on in the 6th inning. It was a high leverage situation, with one of the team's better hitters (though he bats 8th), with the Bucs down two and two runners on. Feliciano came on and did a great job, and turned it over to Putz in the 8th inning, with one on and one out, and the bottom of t he Pirate lineup coming up. Parnell has been that reliever who comes in the game in those critical moments, be it the 6th, 7th or 8th.

At the same time, I like the way the bullpen will shape up with Putz out of the picture. You've got Parnell in the 8th, with the combo of Stokes, Green, and Feliciano to handle the 6th and 7th if necessary.

Definitely Reyes...Even if Manual keeps in Santana, or brings in Stokes to face Diaz, there is no guarantee that the Mets get out of the inning unscathed. What we DO know, is that had Reyes made the play on McCann's grounder, then the inning ends with the score tied 1-1.

Whether Jackie Robinson played for the Mets or not is irrelevent. The fact is Jackie is a trailblazing pioneer, who transcended baseball, and his contribution to American society deserves to be honored. One of the most important events in all of sports, all of American history happened right here in New York, when Jackie officially broke the color barrier, and single handedly proved that all people are in fact equal, regardless of the color of their skin. It is for THOSE reasons that the rotunda is named for him.

As for the blue and orange, that color scheme would be very very garish in what is a beautiful stadium. The biggest thing for me is that the different clubs and stuff could have easily been a nod to Met history. The Ebbets club could be the Shea club
Excelsior = Seaver, and so on. Ultimately, though its all minor gripes on a great new park.

Too early for Thole I think. He'll be more of an end of season call-up if anything.

Matt, as a GM, much of Omar Minaya's work is done in the spotlight so to speak, such as player acquisitions. However, what are the day to day things that he does behind the scenes? ____Also, I am very curious about how initial discussions regarding trades take place..does he just call another team's GM, and express interest? In the cases when he finds a player whom he believes is undervalued (i.e. Nady, Maine, etc) how does he initiate dialogue with the respective player's GM? Is it any different?

Normally this wouldn't concern me, but wasn't Wagner initially diagnosed with forearm tendonitis?

Obviously, this is good to hear, but with so much recovery time left, and so much potential for set backs, this is a non-story. I'll be much more interested when he starts doing simulated games, which will likely be sometime in July, assuming a September return date.

Once Francessa learns that JJ was sarcastic, I'm sure he'll cook up a story about how JJ is NO Nick Swisher (who pitched last night also), that he absolutely hates in NY, and that his clubhouse sources tell him that he and K-Rod got into a fist fight.

I agree, part of it is the Mets "not showing up"..plus my comment was more geared toward the Braves and Fish, who defintely played up against the Mets, and not so much against other NL East teams...For instance, the Braves went 0-9 against the Phils at Turner Field last season...
