Maybe the people complaining have something to complain about? Most of my care at the VA has been very good. It's just those two incidents of retaliation, mental abuse, failure to investigate, cover-up and denial from the facility to the VISN to the OIG, that stick out in my mind. I'm sure there are millions of Veterans that have nothing but good things to say about the VA, but you and the DAV commander should maybe listen to the thousands that don't. The facilities and employees in the private sector wouldn't even think of doing some the crap I've seen and heard about the VA. Was I ever promised private health care, No, I'm saying the zillions of dollars used for the VA would be better spent in the private sector. I'm glad you're happy with the VA!! It almost makes me want to give you a hug... NOT

Hmmm?? I don't know.... I think if you kicked the VA out of the current facilities (along with the union), and gave the same amount of money to a private companies, you would have better service and Veterans would be treated like a valuable customer/patient rather than a number. Break up the VA dictating monopoly... The tea party (good or bad) are just a bunch of republicans in sheep's clothing.... ; )

Yea....There's a million of these stories out there.... So, I won't bother telling mine.... As unfair as it seems, they've got every little trick, legal under Federal Law. No matter which way you spin the scenario, they've got their ass covered. As long as the Director keeps it at about 30% (national average) Veterans employed, no one says a word. My big question is, are they counting Constructive Work Program Vets in their numbers (I'm sure they are)?? I was told union agreement this, union agreement that..... They write their own laws and they enforce their own laws.... I don't know how many times I was told; you need to start at the bottom.... Housekeeping or Dietary. So much for that college degree... Unless they screw a current VA employee (where the union will step in) there's nothing you can do. But they shouldn't make that Veteran Preference thing out to be something it's not.... Because that and a buck will only get you a coffee at McD's..... and some McD's give a 10% Veterans discount, so you could get change back?? ; )

You are all correct... They couldn't make the OIG big enough to follow up on all the corruption just like this. Why would anyone below this level think it is wrong when they see the top dogs do it? It will continue because there is no consequences. It's what happens when you give someone a job that the Federal Government will stand in their place in a civil law suit and not loss their job no matter what the government pays out. Why would they care if they break a few VA Policies? The only reason this came to light is because the Federal Union got involved. If this was a Veteran Patient in a similar situation, you wouldn't see the OIG.. What happened to the executives a Bay Pines? Found guilty in court, but still maintained they did nothing wrong. VA: "Oh, OK well, here's the same position in the other part of the country. They wont know you there". Like the mafia? It is the mafia.

The young pharmacist, it would seem is Friends of the family..... and daddy call his friend Mr. Moreland because his little daughter had used up her deferment time on her student loans and would have to start paying in. What I wonder is; does Mr. Moreland make calls for Veterans when they run into the same trouble with GI bill and SLRP. Not.... Mr. Moreland is a VISN Director and VISN Directors wouldn't know the name of a Veteran ran over by a GSA van driven by the Facility Police Chief. He'd just make sure the facility dug up some dirt on the Veteran so it looked like it was his fault.... ; )

The VA's idea of treatment is to make it as hard as possible to be treated and once you're in, you had better act like a redheaded stepchild or you'll be out on the street faster than you can say "can I see a Patient Advocate?". If you are running a Mental Health Facility ,wouldn't you think most of the patients might just have a social or psychological problem or two. That's OK with the VA if you do....
Welcome to the VA system Ms. Sartore. I wish the VISN 23 Director would take up my case.... But it just one of those everyday retaliation, discrimination and refusal of benefits to a Veteran type things.. I would hate to see a young pharmacist (with VA pay and benefits) have to put up with the same problems I had with VA payments in college. Maybe you could get Mrs. Moreland to sponsor you. She could get her husband to divert some of the (no oversight) stimulus money your way. It's just money, if you don't spend it, one of his other friends will. I'd rather see the money go to a rich sorority girl than a deserving Veteran. ; )

I'm sure there are tons of Vets out there thinking... Wow, all I have to do is input all this stuff... and I'll have all the cool bells and whistles the VA has been talking about all these years... NOT!! The VA should be sued for false advertisement. The "blue button" should say don't waste your time inputting this stuff because the health care providers and caregivers are just going to ask you the same questions again, or ask you to sign a release of information for your records for the VA.... I could build something to input data and print it out...... But it wouldn't cost millions of dollars... The problem is .... whoever you give it to will have to input it anyways.... I think at the end of inputting all that info.... a blue screen should come up that says "SUCKER!!!" you don't get Pooh!!
