C'mon MovieGuy,

When the movie was made, there was no inclination that MA would ever have a Republican Senator. Putting that "R" prominently next to his name didn't happen by accident.

James Cameron asking the crowd to applaud for themselves was hilarious.

Meryl Streep gave her usual "feigning surprise that she won" speech and then tortured the viewers with her rambling. Anyone see Abby Elliot's impersonation of her on SNL this past weekend? She had that phoniness down pat.

Saw it this afternoon and really enjoyed it. But the crowd wasn't very big and the theater I attend is usually a good indicator of a film's box-office success. I'm afraid Eli might not be a success. And Avatar (3D) had a line already forming for the 7PM show.

IMO, a popular anti-American, anti-military film like this can definitely have an impact. Maybe not on older viewers, who have formed strong opinions, but young people and political squishes, who just go with the flow, will definitely be influenced.

Because the soldier is a traitor and fights against the US, the film considers him a "hero". Great, just great...

I have to laugh at the idiocy when "conservatives" say it's really a neo-conservative movie about individual liberty, property rights, etc. It's a liberal environmental screed with numerous cheap shots at Bush (shock and awe, fight terror with terror). I guess "conservatives" are so beaten down that they just figure, "if you can't beat them, join them." What is so hard about not going to see the movie?

Or his being a traitor. Sully was a "hero" because he fought for the enemy.

John is getting a backlash because most Conservatives simply have no spine. They go see Avatar because it looks nice and want to be part of the "in" thing to do.

Avatar opened decently but far from anything extraordinary. If Conservatives had held their ground and refused to see a blatantly anti-American propaganda piece, the film would have been a mild hit and nothing more. You can rest assured there will be more liberal movies than ever now.

But why should we be surprised? Millions of Republicans voted for Obama, and he was widely known to be the most liberal Senator, with no record of bipartisanship.

And anyone who doesn't believe that Avatar WILL have an influence on the thinking of moviegoers is simply naive.

And another so-called "Conservative" goes to see Avatar and sends in a review. And numerous other "Conservatives" respond by saying they gave in and saw the movie and then complain about the liberal slant they knew was in there before they got into the theater. This movie will finish second all-time behind Titanic and have a huge political influence over a generation. The success of the film forces me to accept the fact that the country as a whole is very, very liberal and Conservatism is doomed.

To all "Conservatives" out there, keep being idiots and going to see Avatar because it looks pretty, all the while it's blatantly trashing everything we hold dear.
