Nick Says : Magento How-to: Custom Error Page Design

Sorry guys, but that's not correct! The 404 is handled by the CMS module of Magento which, as default, redirects people to the CMS page with the identifier "no-route", although you can change this in the administration area. To see the error page you could just add a "maintenance.flag" file to your site root. That'll pop your site into maintenance mode and serve the error template.

I\\\'m fairly sure that this is triggered when it can\\\'t find app/etc/local.xml. Did that file exist?

Nick Says : Fool Proof Magento Upgrades

Ah.. that, I did not consider. Assuming the changes are design only, I'd go through the upgrade steps again. If they were CMS pages, etc, then I'd first upgrade the site (making sure that the design works ONLY), then I'd do the page creation and updates on the live site. A tool to do this properly would be quite nice.

I'm afraid that isn't possible. You need to be on a Mac to develop for the i{Phone,Pad,Pod}.

Yes, you are right. I was quite content with the temporary fix, but it would be lazy of me not to actually fix it. I have updated the post with your instructions on how to fix. Thank you!

Nick Says : Magento How-to: Improve Error Reporting

I really don't think that is possible as it lives in the
/report/
directory. Haven't had time to look into it so I may be wrong. I remember seeing that report is entirely independent from themes which is annoying. Maybe there's a way to override it, although I also remember seeing a reference to report in Mage.php which is final'd.Just thinking out loud.

Nick Says : Magento How-to: Testing Magento Modules

@Anthony:
.htaccess
permissions follow a hierarchy - the rules of the child are inherited from the parent. If we take this post as an example, we have two directories:
app/

app/code/community/Meanbee/Shipwire/
In
app/
there will be a file named
.htaccess
which says something along the lines of "DENY FROM ALL". This will not allow the directory nor any files under it be displayed. If we have our Test.php in
app/code/community/Meanbee/Shipwire/
then we would be unable to see it because of the inherited "DENY FROM ALL".We can overcome this by placing another
.htaccess
file, this time in
app/code/community/Meanbee/Shipwire/
, that reads "ALLOW FROM ALL". This modifies the viewing permissions on the folders to disable viewing of files and directories under
app/
except for
app/code/community/Meanbee/Shipwire/
. We'll then be able to see our Test.php! :)
