Tempeh is harder. Natto is much softer and mushy. Its like the durian of Japan, some people like it, some can't stand it.

Smitty thanks for dropping by, This week the online visa is down. I asked at their embassy and they said the online visa site often goes offline. I ended up getting the visa from the embassy. Takes 2 days.

Preetam Rai : Thailand Visa On Arrival ( Visa on Entry) at Bangkok Airport

Divya,

I it is 10000 per person if you are traveling alone.
if you are going as a family of two people and more, it is 20,000

This could be in any currency.

Unfortunately, they don't consider the hotel voucher. You will have to show them the cash. As I mention in the post above, sometimes they don't ask you to show this money at all, while some other they are insistent and I have seen them give hard time to those who can't show it.So my recommendation would be to carry this cash.

Have a good trip.

I have not tried INR but I have got by showing Japanese Yen, Chinese Renmenbei etc. So I think it should be ok.

I am not sure what rates you would get from Thai Bahts (THB) in India. Just run an exchange on this page and see if the rates you are getting in India for THB are close to this

<a href="http://www.google.com/finance/converter
http://www.google.com/finance/converter<br />

Also, in the past I have noticed that the currency exchange counters at Bangkok airport don't like Indian currency. Though the good thing is that their rates seem to be consistent.

Preetam

Vivek. Thanks for updating me with the information. Usually when you arrive on a plane from a country that does not need VOA, there is no crowd. But if you are in a plane from China or India, or worse at a time when a plane each from these countries arrive simultaneously, the VOA could take some time.

If you can, it is better to apply for Visa at your home country. The wait time depends on the number of planes that arrive from countries that need visa on arrival. If a plane each arrives from India and China at the same time, then you are looking at more than an hour of waiting.

I think Malaysia grants visa on arrival to Indian citizens depending on where you are arriving from. They don't have consistent information online so I suggest you email their embassy in the UAE and ask them.

Singapore does grant a limited period visa on arrival for Indian citizens who have residency in couple of western countries, I am not sure if it covers UAE. Again email the Singapore embassy - they should be more efficient in responding.

Gaurav, apologies if you didn't get my reply earlier. It was sitting in my draft.

Anyway, I have no experience with roaming on Indian SIM nor with cards provided by Matrix India. I usually buy a Thai AIS Sim from the 7/11 store and use them. I mainly use the data part to search the internet, email etc. For phone calls I jump into one of several internet cafe and use skype or use my laptop to call via widely available wi-fi all over.
