The real issue here is that this is a "short fix" to the jobs program and will only boot the problem down the road until we are beyond election 2012! These are not permanent jobs and, once this funding bubble bursts, these vets are no better off...perhaps worse off..than they are today. Money spent training vets into jobs programs NOT dependent on a government grant (private sector) would have long term effects and would NOT be another political football for Congress and the White House to fumble!

As a former Marine and Vietnam Vet I want REAL solutions for our military and their families...not political posturing!

You hear that same argument from every candidate's supporters. Truthfully, if NEWT is the ONLY candidate the Republicans will support then I guess I did the right thing by shifting out of the Republican Party.

I don't know who the "we" is you are referring to but if you are willing to forgo the Independents then you can kiss off the election...as ANYONE knows who "has been paying attention for the past five years"! You may be the only person I have run into who thinks people should not be allowed to vote unless they choose a party....very NEWTISH of you!

This nation no longer has a strong, principled media presence anywhere EXCEPT at the local level (minus the newspaper conglomerates). Once those are lost we will be lost in a sea of disinformation and government press releases.

CALL your local TV/RADIO station and NEWSPAPER and complain and then CALL their advertisers (mostly local businesses) and threaten to boycott their products if they continue supporting the station....what now FAILS at the national level WORKS locally!

In his zeal to get the spotlight off his OWN skeletons Newt is attacking Obama in ways that will rile up the right-wing into a frenzy....only problem...he will LOSE independent voters who don't CARE about the Alinsky history but they DO care about having a steady hand on the tiller of government.

Problem for Newt:

Obama is still personally popular but his policies aren't
Newt has NEVER been personally popular and his policies are all over the board!

Result: Newt loses enough of the independent voters and Obama wins!

The TEA PARTY PATRIOTS is a sham organization which was started AFTER the 2010 elections to scarf p contributions from the unaware. The fact the media keeps gopng to them for comments proves how ignorant the non-Tea Party folks are. Newt does NOT have the support of the grassroots Tea Party due to his liberal, big government policies. You can't cuddle with Pelosi and carp about Global Warming, recommend that the State Department be increased in size by fifty per cent, advocate for an individual mandate, take money from Fannie Mae as a lobbyist, and have the dismal ACTUAL record Gingrich had as Speaker and expect CONSERVATIVE voters to support you.

Romney is Gingrich minus the personal baggage.

How terribly SAD if that is the case...isn't it? To think we have hundreds of thousands of military men and women whose lives are on the line for our nation and THIS is the best we can offer THEM in return?
