If he has handed in a request get him gone asap for the best price possible. If the request is just paper talk then the club should stick to thier guns and hold on to the player, but I suspect the rumours are true re the request.

i would be happy to see the back of Piq and Carew and leave the squad as it is. Bringing in new players at this stage could unsettle the squad and further add to the problem we seem to have in picking our most effective team/tactic. Why spend the money now when we should have enough to get out of the division without paying over the odds for players not of Premier league class. Save the money and add it to the funds available for a Premier league season and buy a bit of class to keep us there.

another two goals conceded at set pieces, very un-Sam like. Cant argue with either of the reds though, O'Brian should have been a little more professional having just been booked and Jack just kicked the granny out of Kebbe for taking the piss. Understandable but unprofessional to say the least. I dont post very often but watch most days. I am sure that after every defeat the same old comments are cut and pasted. Two defeats on the spin is a bit of a worry though. For the record when we walked away with the division in 1980-81 we lost our opener at home to Luton and took a December stonking 3-0 at QPR, with any luck this will be that kind of season again

Its a no brainer, neither player has shown enough developement for their respective ages and it is fairest to all to allow them the chance to flourish elsewhere. Stanislas and Hines were the same in this respect. The big difference with the pair of them is that they both had an overinflated opinion of their abilities, Sam could see this and bombed them out double quick. Sears in particular is a shame because his promise was there for all to see on his debut, but in all honestly he has not developed physically to be able to ever make the grade.

o neill is without a doubt the most over rated manager of his generation. He makes Keegan look like a stayer! not even sure CC would be interested to be fair, he reportedly had opportunities to remain in the premier league but chose to remain with us. I am not his biggest fan either, but he does seem to be flourishing under Sam.

It all goes to show how wrong we can be. I didnt want Gold and Sullivan anywhere near my club, but I have to hold my hands up and say what a good job they are making of rehabilitating this great club of ours. They are English and genuine fans to boot, and I for one am pleased with that. There are still those who would still like the foreign loadsamoney owners in to treat our club like a toy, well we tried that didnt we and it took British owners to put it all back together again. credit where its due I say, and I am man enough to admit being wrong, and with Sam as well. Happy days are on the horizon I feel

Totally off subject, just watched a u tube vs Everton in the 1980 semi final replay over two parts. First time I have seen the game since being at Elland Rd on the night. Reminded me why I was so in love with West Ham and football in general, and showed how watered down todays version of the game is. Also worth watching for the interview with the late great Lyall with the old South bank behind.
Priceless!

excruciating at times, between the inability to retain posession and quick flashes of keystone cop defending there were still enough positives to hang on to. 3 points ugly for starters. We would never have got that type of result under Zola or Grant. Reid is learning fast, Almunia was good (never thought I would say that). Carew and Faubert worked all night. Noble had a rare above average performance, although I still think he has found his level. Dioup was very effective in the destructive midfield role and I felt we were under more pressure when he limped off. Negatives were Collison, I would drop Nolan and push Collison into the hole and have Dioup as the anchor. Piq is a waste of wages. Sears flattered to decieve again. But overall I think Sam has us on the right tracks but we need to tuck away the next two at UP

there is nothing wrong with long ball provided it is used in a mix of styles and patterns of play. Paulos goal (that goal) was arguably created by a long ball at the end of a sublime passage of passing play. David Beckham one of the most talented players ever to grace an England shirt was the finest exponent of playing a long ball. When it gets odious is when balls are pumped into the opposition box more out of hope than expectation. The perception that Sam plays the long ball game are founded by the way he played as the Bolton manager. To be fair we also had the same perception prior to his appointment.
