You're right, rape is the far more serious crime and the difference is rape involves penetration whereas molestation does not. So you're saying it wouldn't be ok if she just fondled him, but it's ok since they went all the way?

Either way, this is a child. The "but he enjoyed it" angle gets no play. He's a child. What don't you get about that?!?

Hmm, so you are saying "look it up" but only in the very specific way, in the very specific version of the bible that says what you want it to say, and then we can't "quote Leviticus too much". Care to throw a few more parameters out to be sure that nothing you don't like comes up?

90% of laws are based off religion? Really? Such as what? Can you name some of these laws based on religion?

If you are thinking of laws against theft and murder, those might be condemned by religions, but they've also been considered taboo and have had laws against them long before religion came into the picture and in essentially all societies regardless of what mythology or lack thereof they've subscribed to.

Ok, gotcha. It's not child molestation if the kid enjoys it. Surprised Sandusky didn't use that as his defense.

Have to disagree with you a little bit. Tom Cruise is one of those guys I always think is more than a little out there, and the wacky scientology stuff only makes it worse.
He's one of these actors I always want to not like, but if there's one thing he can do, he can really act. He's been in some clunkers, but he's also just knocked it out of the park with Collateral, Born on the Fourth of July, Magnolia, A Few Good Men...even Tropic Thunder.

He's on that list of people for me that it can be tricky to separate my feelings about the person from my feelings about their art.

How did that rhyme end...was it "but names and kicks to the head will never hurt me?"

No, don't think that's how it goes.

Honestly, that may be one of the bigger hurdles that the campaign faces - simply the way this and many other referendums get written, it's not always obvious which way you are supposed to vote to support same-sex marriage.

I'm sorry, but it almost sounds like bars like this might be taking advantage of the price increase to gouge more than a little.
From the article:
"A lot of my mid-range pours are going up - up $5 a shot more, which is kind of outrageous"'
Prices went up, but not that much! A typical bottle of alcohol (a fifth) has approximately 25 ounces of liquor. A standard shot is an ounce and a half, so there are roughly 16 shots from each bottle. If this guy is raising prices $5 a shot, he's pulling in an extra $80/bottle, and that's for what he calls "mid-range pours.

Assuming he was actually previously paying something closer to $25/bottle for "mid-range" liquor, his actual cost per drink was only about $1.50. Even if that doubled (and I've only been able to find 1 or 2 that have come close to doubling), another $1.50 is all he would have to charge to keep the same margin.

Yes, it sucks that prices have mostly gone up, but it sounds like some of these bars are just using a modest price increase in cost of goods to cause a major price increase in their establishments

The age of consent is 16, unless the older person involved is in a position of authority over the victim, then it's 18. From the way this reads, this is exactly why this is the case...whether or not sex was happening at younger ages, this person has likely been grooming her since Middle School for this.

"You can't call the police on mere suspicion"
Yes, yes you can!
Ask anyone who work in education, school counselors, etc. They don't have to wait until they have concrete proof of molestation. They can, and are in fact in most states are required, to report suspicions of abuse.
They absolutely should report suspicions. That's how the police know to start investigating in the first place.
