High on drugs? The report referenced here doesn't specify an amount, and marijuana lasts in the bloodstream for a month.
Blindsided? Blindsided the guy who left his vehicle, against specific police instructions, to confront him? The odds he "blindsided" him are pretty slim.
Bash his head against the pavement? Maybe. But if you instigate a fight (which Zimmerman likely dead), you don't get to pull a gun when you start to get your butt whipped.

The article said it happened over several months. I would have assumed that heavy gauge copper wire like that would serve an important enough function that when they first started taking it, something should have stopped working and the theft discovered before it got this far.

Marriage is too ubiquitous and found amongst a wide range of cultures and religions, and not just the "Judeo/Christian" ones. Besides, Marriage is the term that is written into the various laws, making it a legal, and therefore secular term.
Again, if you want to have a "special" term for it, you need to come up with it for yourself.

That's not even remotely true. Standard law enforcement training is to shoot to the center of mass ie. the heart.
This is not to maim, but to have the most likelihood of putting the suspect down, with a combination of an effective, usually lethal shot, and a shot that they are likely to be able to make in a high-pressure situation.
The only reason they are not trained to aim for the head is because of the higher likelihood of missing the shot altogether.
