2nd or 3nd finger....In my case it depends where I am going next: if I am staying in the same position I tend to play with my 3rd finger, if I am shifting down the fretboard I tend to use my 2nd finger...that's just me. In cases like these I always suggest to learn to play well with both the 2nd and 3rd finger. I agree with Frank, but you cannot get the slightly different sound of that repeated note if you play a 2 note per string fingering.
