1 day ago @ Big Government - 'Access to Guns,' Not ... · 0 replies · +2 points

I get it. The Major was influenced to do his dastardly deed by his hatred of guns (inspired by his jihadist Islamic belief system)? Oh wait, a person in the military does not have access to guns. He does? Er, ah ... What is this nincompoop blathering about? He won't convince many other than himself and extreme leftists, who don't need "convincing."

The Major was motivated by his Islamic faith. He was not a renegade since his allegiance and true devotion was and is to Islam. Unfortunately, this enemy of civilization and civilized values was influenced by a primitive belief system that mandates that he do acts in its behalf that are antithetical to those among whom he sought to live. Since he could no longer contain himself, he acted based on advice from Islamic clerics.

The Major is not at fault. It is we who need to tighten our defenses and not allow these moles to penetrate our society to do their antagonistic deeds. The Major was quite forthright in declaring his allegiance. We chose to ignore his statements. We are at fault. The Major is a true servant of Allah and a noble Islamic believer albeit an enemy of civilized peoples in the civilized world. The Islamic Major acted consistent to and in pursuit of his principles requiring subjugation of non-Islamics. It is our obligation as a rational society to expedite the Majors' transition into Paradise, where his now impaired body will regain its abilities and he can service the 72 houris, who will be provided to him. Insh'allah.

Since I am a compassionate person, I hope for the sake of the Major, he can maintain his delusions concerning the hereafter to comfort him until he is executed and removed from the land of the living. After all, civilization is Eros worshiping, valuing life, while Islamic believers worship Thanatos, death, as exemplified by their embrace of suicide as they engage in murder of their victims, non-Islamics.

This seems to be a PR prosecution. Michael was taking drugs unknown to the physician, which increased the toxicity of the fatal "cocktail." I bet that acquittal will be a slam dunk.

The DA will rue the day he embarrassed himself by bringing the complaint. The only chance for "success" that the DA has is to coerce the doctor into entering a plea under an agreement for a lesser count that does not bar him from holding a medical license and under which he serves no time.

You need to wonder concerning these prosecutors who abuse their discretion by bringing such unwarranted actions against public figures. Of course, some of the political prosecutions lie, such as those that resulted in the convictions of Leona Helmsley and Martha Stewart. But then, the prosecutor of the Duke students certainly got his comeuppance. Too bad he didn't also get to do some time on his own.

Dying doesn't exonerate you from the evil you have done. Opposing the war was acceptable, a position. Denigrating the Marines at Haditha was contemptible. You can't take ill-gotten gains into the hereafter, so only your hatefulness toward your fellow countrymen and your corruption live after you. It's doesn't matter. Your survivors can stand the onus as they have the money. It's unfortunate that the wealth you and your family putatively acquired because of your lack of ethics and integrity cannot be recovered and restored to the taxpayer. Beneficiaries of your "earmarks" will undoubtedly mourn your absence.

Another predatory politician bites the dust. But it doesn't matter. Another of the same type will replace him. It seems that nowadays you need to be a narcissistic sociopath in most places to be elected to office and retain that post. The images of candidates and officeholders are in no way related to the person and his characteristics. I suppose that the fault lies with us, the voters, for allowing ourselves to repeatedly be deceived.

Melting ice produces heat. Surely somebody from East Anglia could mutter some incantations and cause "colding" to occur. There's so much money involved in the anthropogenic climate change drama that the Winter Olympic Games pale into insignificance in terms of consequences.

Maybe the games should have been moved East and to lower latitudes, er, Washington, D.C. and environs, and away from the coast bordering the Pacific. Certainly the sagacious scientists knew the consequences of El Nino upon the region and could have warned the promoters of the Games. Instead they focused on their agenda and not the immediate consequences of climate in the effect of El Nino. Is there some dereliction here?

Where there is incentive, the trillions of dollars involved to be skimmed off by climate change promoters ... well, as the French wisely say, "Cherchez l'argent," there is maintained interest. Why didn't the "Mouseketeers," oops, "Climateers" use their vast store of knowledge to alert the Olympic Committee of the confluence of the Games and the effects of El Nino? too busy?

Come on now. Liberals have "received wisdom," and those truths shall make them free.

They are confined to a closed system , and have taken a religious approach in that they determine what their holy writ prescribes and proscribes, and formulate their positions based on theory ignoring any need for validating their concepts of "How Things Work" in the world.

Unfortunately, living in a cocoon they do not realize that they are parodies of predecessors whose methodology they deride with scorn, but whom they nonetheless unconsciously emulate. The "Flat Earth" folks, the geocentric theories espoused by the Catholic Church for centuries, and "liberal principles" all in their time, were not exposed to scrutiny and critiques. And as their predecessors did, they invoke damnation, characterizing those who disagree with their conclusions as "bad," and consigning "bad folks" to the less harsh modern day equivalent of damnation. Instead of burning at the stake, or stoning, today those suggesting other approaches are subjected by the intellectual establishment to scorn, ridicule, and contempt, and exclusion from positions of influence and power.

And by golly, empirical methods will never never be applied to the theories that liberals espouse. Nor will their postulates be questioned. Is Keynesian policy evaluated and critiqued in terms of results? Are social theories such as all "groups" of people having the same capabilities so that they should all be in the same positions proportionately in every endeavor, ever critically examined? Er, why do so many black people excel disproportionately in basketball? Oh, parallel evolution in different environments and with varying mutations is to be disregarded because the results don't conform to liberal cant? Are these statements of purported high ideals insincere?

Liberal ideals must prevail regardless of their validity despite any incongruity, and consequent malfunction of society that may occur, Got it. After all, liberals embody "virtue."

Someone should write a tract on tweaking Keynesian economic theory so that it works. Not only is there no kewpie doll to date, but not even a compensatory cigar.

What perplexes me is a pattern (admittedly somewhat blurry at times) in which the most radical "leftists" are concerned regarding "mankind," but somehow in their personal lives are boorish, manipulative, inconsiderate, and hateful toward individuals who fall within their ambit. How they reconcile their embrace of abstract concepts with their contrary controllable actions, mystifies me.

Aw, come on, cut Morty some slack. After all, he also invested with Bernie Madoff, the man whose name should replace Ponzi's on Ponzi scheme. Live and learn. Die and forget. Morty learned something and now recognizes Obama as a rather limited person in both intelligence and experience, who has run only one thing during his entire life, and that is his mouth. Obama is an empty suit in far over his depth. I suppose that it was the magic of yearning that a black man could discharge the duties that prevented the vetting of Obama, which would have disclosed his weaknesses. Ho hum. Well, the self-deception is being overridden by reality. Good for Morty, a man who can change his mind. Thatg's a plus.

Why did the Republicans continue to provide support for these programs when they had control of the Congress?

1 day ago @ Big Journalism - Under Investigation, A... · 0 replies · +2 points

Aw shucks, cut Bertha some slack. Here she is entrepreneurial, a woman who has created gigs for herself that not only pay her good money, but also advance her ideological beliefs.

What troubles me concerning the entire matter is the billions of dollars that are channeled through the government to people who are beyond parasitic in that their function is to act as catalysts to exact more of taxpayers' money to support their constituencies. The blatant political purpose of the organization is to secure money transfers from productive people to non-productive people. The activities to secure such results are funded by the government. So here the government funds ACORN, and supports or supported other "worthies" such as Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and other race hustlers through various and sundry "organizations. And the activities of these folks, among others, is to marshal voters to support politicians who authorize the funding.

Then other goodies are distributed to support these constituencies, who participate in the society, er, as consumers of resources. So, it's a bread and circuses environment, and the taxpayers are paying to have people supported as idlers, and to facilitate the process are supporting those who organize to perpetuate their "deal." And the band played on.
