Weaver was using liberal platitudes, as mousiemarie pointed out it so well. Weaver's "breast" complaint goes right to that prejudice. Be "all for women and what they can do", except when YOUR director, who is a man, doesn't win....then poop on the female winner and refer to her in body parts. Stupid, hypocritical and regressive, not pro-gressive.

tdburnham....LOTR's trilogy was written by a devout Roman Catholic Christian, who was a great friend of CS Lewis, author of the Chronicles books. And, my brother, a tremendous, long-time Tolkien fan, says that the movies were pretty faithful to the books. So evidently, "Christian" can do well in the box office.

Please, you all, remember Cameron was rooting FOR Bigelow. In fact, he stated many times that she should-and-would win the Oscar. Weaver, Saranwrap and Babwa Strident are just perennial sour-grapers.

Me also, lady. All the way back to my college days, I was, and will always be, a GDI--God D@mn Independent....I just turned 66. I've never needed a "sorority"/sisterhood to get dates OR grades.

When the feminist crapola hit, I was busy being a mother to my 2 daughters. I had had 6 pregnancies in a bit over 4 years, I came out with 2 daughters--I spent some time bedridden just to get to the point where I could give birth and the baby would live past it. Along come some mean women who want me to abandon my hard-fought-for babies and go get a job--for my self-esteem, they said. I wanted to stay home and raise the 2 lives that I was responsible for, thankyouverymuch. Of course, eventually, I had to get a job because, for some reason, ever so sneakily over a relatively short period of time, my husband couldn't make enough to support his family. Many, many women were faced with the same scenario back then....and it was bull pucky. Somehow, taxes were raised or wages dropped so that most, average men couldn't make enough money to support their families. And, it didn't make any difference if he was a college grad or not....something very sly happened back then, I know because I worked with them--and not for fancy stuff, just hamburger and mac n' cheese...and it continues.

JMHO....from my life experiences....

Thanks, TexasRancher. She was a stray that our vet said wouldn't have made it another week, if we hadn't taken her in, and to the vet. She was just covered with fleas. She's our baby now, since our older 4 cats have passed on...all were strays that needed help, and got it. She's just 12 and in good health, but two of the five lived to be 19 and 20. All came to us as kittens, who we had spayed/neutered at the proper time. She IS feisty though...she doesn't claw, but my husband swears that she has a billy club or small baseball bat hidden in her long fur that she keeps whacking him with when he annoys her.

deck ape...I like your comment--I put it on my list of snappy comments, hope you don't mind. It needed more than just a "thumb up".
