Strickerin : Oh yes I did.

It's a new one and I don't like it. It's all \"yay, we have a timer\" which gives me 4 hours on high, 6 hours on high, 8 hours on low, 10 hours on low, and always after the timer, it turns to \"keep warm\". I think it's the keep-warm that's the problem. I think it's toooooo hot. Even recipes that are quite large will burn if they're on that too long. Mostly I put things in while they're still frozen, and then they're just right.

Interesting. I'm going to have to play with Like.fm. I wonder if it will work for me, given that most of the fun sites are banned by the work nanny...

Really? All I could think as you listened was "wow, this is okay, until that guy starts 'singing'". I suppose I should give it a real listen before I plop myself into the "not for me" category.

SoundLust : Album Review: MICHAEL by Michael Jackson

People love a freak show, which is why, to my mind, they focused on Michael Jackson the Weird, instead of Michael Jackson the Musician. As his personal life got weirder and weirder, his music got relegated to the background. I personally preferred his early stuff and can't say I've heard any of his stuff from the last ten years or more.

Strickerin : Lynn in Tucson made me do it.

I either wrap them backwards or lift them funny. And I'm not entirely sure I do it the same on every row. o.O
I don't remember the crocheted hat Joan did off the top of my head, but it will be a while before Aunt Tam deserves one. I tend to think if someone asks, they don't deserve one.

SoundLust : St. Cecilia, Patron of Musicians — Thank You

Patron saints are the ones who have a special affinity for whatever they're the patron of, and the idea is to ask the saint for direct intercession with god. You should love that - holy social networking.

SoundLust : REVIEW: We R Who We R by Ke$ha

what, like Pat Boone covering metal or Paul Anka jazzing up rock? I suppose you have a point. I don't really think believability has ever been on my list of Must Haves when selecting songs I like, though. Lately most of my favorites have to do with selling your soul to the devil and/or hookers and strippers. I suppose maybe it's less about believability than being a good match. Those songs just *fit* with the artist. And if that's the sense we're talking about, I still think the original reviewer is wrong, and I can't imagine anyone better singing about partying and avoiding creepy dinosaur guys than Ke$ha.

SoundLust : Music-Marketing Tech: Twitter and Ping

I hate those notices from Foursquare. If Blip.fm is the one I'm thinking of, that links the song right in the facebook feed, that's okay, but still not amazing. I don't actually care what music people are buying or listening to. If I did, I'd ask them directly.

There's no way that any artist out there (at least, any with commercial success) believes everything he or she sings. Particularly when he/she isn't writing it. Even if she DOES believe it, she gets dinged for putting her life out there in her song list, a la Taylor Swift.

Ms Magazine Blog : Where Are the Feminists for Bristol Palin?

Scold their politics and attitudes all you want. But I'd argue that commenting on cankles or worrying about whether HER dress is modest (rather than ballroom dancing attire in general - who's out there protesting the professional, non-prime-time events?) is irrelevant to the conversation, and mean. She's doing what she can with the spotlight she has, and she looks like she's having fun. For her sake and her son's, I hope she enjoys herself, raises her son as well as she possibly, and takes advantage of all her opportunities. Regardless of her politics or her "talents". I think the politics of her mother are loathsome, but that doesn't mean I want Bristol (or any of the other Palins) to suffer.

SoundLust : Desert Bloom 3 Heavy On the Tunes

Definitely an interesting event. It seemed more mellow this time, which was nice. (I did miss the audience-participation painting, though.) I thought the live music was an improvement over the DJs last time, though I am not in the DJ demographic, so much. Would like to hear more of those bands around town.

SoundLust : CD Review: Asylum by Disturbed

Hmm. Maybe I need to listen to it in proper order. I liked it, but it didn't really grab me the way some of their other stuff does, and most of the song sounded the same to me. Same/similar tempo, same phrasing, even sometimes the same words/lines. Sometimes it seemed like the only way to tell them apart was with the bridges and interludes.
