Mike, watch what you wish for. If you are saying that unless a President has a FILIBUSTER-PROOF Congress, he cannot be blamed for what happens, then you have to make all the things that happened during the Bush years the fault of the Democrats, or at the least not Bush's fault, because Bush didn't have a filibuster-proof Congress either.

We walked out of the movie at about the 50 minute mark, when a porno director was telling Jason Bateman in Ryan Reynolds body to do something disgusting with his thumb. I don't know what the second half was, but the first half was crap. I could feel brain cells dying as I watched. I am measurably shorter afterwards, and I now walk with a limp. How many ways can I say this? C. R. A. P.

Only the left calls disagreement with policy, "hate". And yet when you guys spew true hate speech at Bush, you call it "patriotic disagreement". Go figure.

Had you deigned to listen to him this week, you would have heard NOTHING BUT solutions. This tells me that you never listen to him, because he nearly always offers alternatives. You may disagree with those alternatives, which revolve around the free market, liberty, small government, self-reliance, etc. But they are alternatives nevertheless.

Thanks for your gracious apology for your mislabeling me as a dumbass and a poverty-stricken fool. I never can get over how truly gracious and loving the left can be when disagreed with. By the way, "Leaders" are what the left has - over here on the conservative side, we have "thinkers", because we make up our own minds instead of parrotting talking points.

Absolutely agree. We should have insisted that 90% of the cuts take place during THIS CONGRESS, because promises for another Congress are never followed.

Well, since I am a physician, and last year I made over $500K, I would guess that I can ignore your last comment.

And since you didn't respond about when was the last time you listened to Limbaugh, I can infer that you don't. Which makes your comments about "stop listening" just mindless. Maybe he is giving nuggets of olympian knowledge - you wouldn't know because you don't listen to him. But you are okay with slamming him, all without knowing what he says. Mind-read much?

And, while we are at it, how do YOU know what Rush says about anything? When was the last time you actually listened to him, rather than relying on what you are told he says?

The typical leftist talking point: "stop listening to Rush". Supposed to automatically win the argument. Sorry, bucko. Doesn't work here. Just makes you look stupid.

With the spendthrift ways of Congress (both parties), we have to be the adults. If behavior doesn't change, we will sooner or later not be able to "pay our debt" as you would like. We will run out of creditors, we will monetize our debt and make the dollar worthless, or we will default. Your party promised to do better than the Republicans on that score, and one would have to ask, "did they?"

(sigh, while answering patiently). No, it's not "paying your debt". It's paying off one credit card by getting another. That isn't paying one's debt at all (although I can see that the ones being paid are happy, at least for a time). Eventually, one has to pay the debt, and if one cannot see ever getting to the point where the income matches or exceeds the outflow, one declares bankruptcy. Nearly everyone who declares bankruptcy wonders why he didn't stop sooner, before his debt was unmanageable.

The first rule of getting out of holes is: stop digging. Every increase in the debt limit is digging. It is a simple concept, one which even you could understand in your private life. I am not saying "don't increase the debt limit at all" - many of us are saying, "no increasing the debt limit until you demonstrate that you can change your behavior".

And, of course, O ye of simple mind, that reduction in spending will never happen so long as there is a Democrat president and Democrat Senate. So you may wish all you want for us to simply raise the debt limit and then limit spending, but it isn't going to happen without leverage on the Democrats. If they won't significantly limit spending with the debt limit issue hanging over their heads, what would be the chance that they would without that issue demanding action? Hmmmm? Do you also believe in the tooth fairy?

They aren't two different issues. The debt limit is a blank check. You start with a spendthrift spouse by taking their credit cards away.

Dummy. You buy whatever the Dems say. The fact is that we should cut actual spending. We should go back to the actual budget of 2007 (you remember - that was when the Dems last said that we were "spending like drunken sailors" and promised to be more reliable than the Republicans with respect to spending). If we did, we could get rid of this huge deficity pretty quickly. If we don't, we are hosed. It's that simple.
Small minds are those who cannot think new thoughts. Your's is pretty tiny. Try this one on for size: CUT SPENDING. Not slow the rate of growth. Not promise to cut eight years from now. Cut it. Cut it back to the levels before the TARP, before the stimulus bills. Cut it to 2007. Think of that one, if you can. Your guys said it was to big of a budget, at the time. So think about what would happen were we to try it.
I don't expect you to, but you should try it.
