Whoever that receiver is (15?) lined up at slot needs to adjust his stance. How can you explode out of your stance at the snap with your back leg all the way extended and your weight mostly on your front leg?

Its all about fundamentals.

why wouldn't Glover show up for fall camp? shouldn't suggest otherwise if he is expected to show.

angrybeaver the scouting report on BH is that he has good range and physicality and on ball skills but he doesnt stay with the quicker recievers in and out of their cuts. Thus he is susceptible to double moves and comeback routes. Which is exactly the routes he will see in one-on-one island coverage that the beavs play. If they were playing classic cover 2 this wouldnt be a problem. But the beav corners have to bump and run so much need really quick swivel. I watched poyer and reynolds the other day, both of them (especially poyer have really good hips). As soon as they get more physical with their bump and their run coverage they will be natural corners. This position will be ok for the beavs but i think the personnel might change as the season progresses. Dockery has limited recovery speed from what i have seen but makes up for it by being a good guesser and has excellent on ball awareness. If beavs get a good pass rush consistently Dockery will be able to clamp down and frustrate most of his opponents, Hardin too. Beavs need to find ways to get to the QB in the 3.0 to 3.5 second range on obvious passing downs. Anything over four seconds will be a problem.

uhh cliff this mancrush on Hekker has to stop. I know its kinda cool to watch the punter throw parking lot spirals but that doesnt make him a quarterback. If he's not the quarterback he cant be the second best passer on the team. I can drain NBA 3 pointers down at my gym but that doesnt make me a better shooter than Rudy Fernandes even if he goes 0 for 10.

Why did Jack Lomax get a scholarship again? Beavs are getting physically talented quarterbacks in the program from national lists. The Anderson, Moore, Canfield line proves this. Mannion is reportedly a blue chip talent. Just saying that the beavs have to be careful recruiters. Not sure about JL. Portland state is probably the right place for him given his connections.

Personally i think the zone blocking schemes the beavs use require a laterally gifted stop-and-start back that runs with a low profile. McCants and Stevenson are upright long striders who dont have low center of gravity. Ward seems exactly in the mold of Simonton, Bernard, JRodgers.

Hate to override you Cliff but if i'm the coaches i get Terron Ward in the mix immediately.

Cliff, any word on giving an available scholly to Terron Ward the all everything RB from the Bay Area? You say the greyshirts are for academic challenges or overstocked positions but Ward is a high achiever with the grades and Beavs dont have a ready-made fill-in for J Rodgers. It seems to me that getting Ward in the lineup asap would be a good use of an open scholly.
Heard anything?

gotta teach these guys to stay on their feet. Erickson used to RAIL about that and it seemed to work to keep guys healthy.

is Hatfield actually going to be doing anything but redshirting? I would be immensely surprised. I really wondered about that scholarship offer. I would love to be surprised.

ok we are nearly bald at Rb. how does this happen?

Have we ever been been deep at running back in the last ten years. I can hardly remember a season when there was 2 or 3 pac ten quality guys actually in the rotation. Now we have a true sophomore, a RS freshman and a true freshman in the mix. Even with Francis out and Mccants out you have to figure on a couple of losses at such a stressful position.
CaptainKirk. I do not like this situation, running on a single engine Capn. It wont do!
