Hell of an article, Josh. Really love your writing, honesty, and insights.

Big fan of the autonomy, travel, and energy values, too. Congrats on creating a new life and excited to see how it continues!!

i think i may have laughed *most* at "cry me a river, JT"... seriously, dude - some of your best (hilarious) stuff!

so many great ideas in here, too! i LOVE the notion of 5 hours/day on the computer. at first i think "i could never pull that off," but have i even tried or given myself the chance? i'm probably closer to 7 now, but what if i forced myself to go to 6. baby steps!!

you keep writing, i'll keep reading.

and don't forget the octopus - tasty stuff!! :)

AWESOME post, bro - really great work. love how you line 'em up and knock 'em down. and BIG SMILE when i saw the Chip Conley wisdom in there. :-)

so thrilled to know ya and be learning along with ya as you LIVE ON PURPOSE!

2 things: what the hell was your dad saying/doing during all this? and i *almost* thought you were going to say you were jerking "something else" yesterday...

those questions aside - great example of listening to your gut. it's almost fun for me now, of when i come across something where I'm trying to get away with something and it's just like, "nope - you KNOW what to do - so now go and do it"

thanks for sharing this. by the way - did you know it was a guy? maybe it was a lady - perhaps you would have WANTED to leave your #? ;-)

hey - whaddya got against us Macbook folks? :-)

spectacular post, man - lots of excellent ideas covered in here. i'm amazed that you put it all out in ONE post (instead of creating a stream of them - perhaps even a subscription series... :-)

Your WRITING is one of the main reasons i keep coming to sensophy - it's so fresh, so fun, and so YOU (now that i know a bit more...). in fact, i think you're able to put things in writing that few people would ever be able to do verbally (even you). quite a strength homeskillet (can i use that here?).

Here are my Top 5 (seen High Fidelity recently?) - i'll look at this in terms of "my work," instead of a Just Over Broke!

1. Connection - meeting people and understanding them on a deep, genuine level
2. Exploration - new places, new activities - get outside that comfy comfort zone and expand my horizons
3. Entertainment - lots of laughs and lots of smiles. it's all about the Play, right?
4. Freedom - I want to start working at 7 AM? great! i want to take 3 days off. equally cool!
5. Solutions - finding ways to make stuff happen - let's move forward what we're passionate about!

i'm not sure what the appropriate simile is in the movie (maybe marla or meat loaf), but if you apply LOVE to any negativity in your life, that emotion will dissolve. it's not about avoiding it, but rather applying a healthy dose of hugs. perhaps the next time you're feelin' low, you can use this as your mantra: "his name was robert paulson!"
