Yes, the phone indeed goes semi-tethered after the battery runs out (or at least it looks like it). I'll give Corona a try later though. Thanks for the direction!

it requires to either SSH into your iPhone or use iPhoneBrowser and delete a few files. Apparently the problem is caused by some corrupted repositories that make Cydia crash within the first few seconds of loading it. To fix this, simply navigate to /var/lib/apt/lists and delete all the files in this folder except for the folder called “partial”. Then reboot your iPhone and launch Cydia. It should load without crashing.

Thanks for the quick reply DHLizard! The phone is produced on week 45 of 2009. So does it have the new bootroom? And if I indeed have new bootroom phone, would you mind providing the link to the page of Corona 10-8 please? Again, thanks!

Hi! I'm having an iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1. I've jailbroken it with redsn0w 0.9.10b5c and it normaly works fine. However, if the phone runs out of battery, Cydia and its apps will stop working (crash at launch). It happened twice to me. The first time I thought something went wrong so I restored the phone to original fw and jailbroke it again. The second time the phone ran out of battery this morning and when it got back on, all Cydia related apps and Cydia itself stopped working. I did a search around and found a fix to the crash. However I'd really like that to not happen again ever because the phone is used by my wife and she's almost a no-tech. My previous iPhone 3G didn't have this kind of issue after jailbreak so I figure there's some problem going on. Any help is highly appreciated although I've been always appreciating the jobs done around here! Thanks!

Hi kkiran, Will there be custom fw with ultrasn0w already installed? That would be handy for those that do not have an official carrier. Keep up the good work man !

I would second that! You could actually use winrar half-free (just have to close the pop-up after trial period)

You're the man Kkiran! The Dev-team hasn't release Quickpwn for PC yet, so your custom Firmware update files come just in time. I knew you would have written this article by the time I see the update on the Dev-team's blog. :D Thanks a lot ! :)

iLikeMyiPhone : Apple iPhone Tips and Tricks! : iPhone 3G 2.2.1 With 2.28 Baseband Modified (Activated/UnActivated) Firmware Download Links!

Thanks for the good article ! However it did not relate to my issue. I have AptBackup installed after Upgrading, but after restoring apps and settings from iTune, Cydia, AptBackup and Installer, as well as several apps installed from Cydia disappeared. I could only see Categories and Winterboard. It must be something related to the new firmware. I read somewhere else and found that all I need to is turn on Restriction (in Setting>General), and then turn it off. After that, all these Cydia apps re-appeared like before. Thanks again for the firmware ! Your articles are one of my very few trusted iPhone sources. Keep up the good work man !

Hi Kkiran, Thanks a lot for the files. I upgraded it successfully to 2.2.1 with the old base band. However, after restoring the backup apps from itune, I can't see Cydia, Installer and several other Cydia apps anymore. I checked with Winscp and saw that they are still there where they should be but they do not appear on the boards. Any idea how I can restore them?
