my mom has a 3g iphone that is still on frimware 2.2 with baseband 2.28.00. i want to upgrade it to 3.0 or 3.1.2 so i can jailbreak and tether. is it possible to upgrade only to 3.1.2 and avoid 3.1.3, or is this whole firmware signing thing gonna be a problem? she doesnt have any ECID hashes...but again its only because she is on 2.2. your help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Sorry if this question has been asked a million times before, but i cant seem to find a clear answer. All the info I have been reading is either outdated, doesnt apply to my situation, or just isnt clear. Your help would be GREATLY appreciated. Basically i have just bought an iphone 3gs running 3.1.2 with the new bootloader that requires a tethered jailbreak. Now i cant use blackra1n because im on an unofficial carrier and blackra1n wont hacktivate the phone (I do still have the At&t sim but im in another country). Now my question is, will pwnage tool let me jailbreak this phone or is there another program i need to use? Again i have the new bootloader. thanks in advance

Try using purplesn0w instead of ultrasn0w for the unlock. Ultrasn0w may still be causing wifi issues. The only thing about this suggestion is that *i think* you need to delete ultrasn0w before you can install purplesn0w, but im not sure. If that is the case, then if your wifi isnt working, you wont be able to download anything

Hey im sorry if this has been asked before, but I have a quick question. Im trying to restore and rejailbreak an iPhone 3G running 3.0 firmware using a Windows PC. I was wondering, what is the best method to jailbreak in terms of how easy and how fast the process is: QuickPwn, Redsn0w, or Pwnage tool? Thanks ahead of time

Sweet, thanks man. I was hoping there would be something juicier in there...im dying to get VOIPover3G lol especially since I just got an email from skype with a promo code for a month of free unlimited calling worldwide. I have till the 31st of July to redeem it, so im holding off as long as possible till i can get skype working over 3G

Hey quick question. I opened up Cydia and saw that there is a new update for Mobile Substrate uploaded today. The version number is 0.9.2966-1. Does anyone know what is new in this version, or what problems it fixes? I havent updated yet, but im hoping this fixes VOIPover3G although i believe that is upto the developer himself. Thanks in advance

OK...the 911 screen means that the phone isnt activated. Now if you have an AT&T sim as you say, you shouldnt have a issues activating. Thats whats confusing me, cus it should work. Its one of two things, either your sim isnt working (which u said it works on another phone so thats not it) or ur phone got fuckd up somehow Either way, worse case is just take the phone to Apple and have them replace it

OK...before you jailbreak, when you put your sim into the phone running stock 3.0, do you have signal then or it just doesnt work period?

After you jailbreak you need to download and install ultrasn0w from cydia. Jailbreaking wont unlock your phone, thus no service. Once you have ultrasn0w, ur sim should work
