"...volunteer board and commission members..." It's not a paid position, therefore this is not illegal. (At least, that's what the article reads to me? Does anyone know if this IS a paid position?)

Daily Camera.com: : Thornton woman faces accessory charges in Weld County slayings - Boulder Daily Camera

Hostage? Yes, I'd be terrified in her situation about being the next victim. But then... according to her interview with the Denver Post (which was beyond stupid), she sat outside of the motel Johns slept in, for hours, in the bloody SUV. WHY not leave? Why not call the cops? Something did not sit right with me after reading that part of her interview. Your 'friend' brutally murdered two people, you are sitting in the evidence, he is inside a motel, and you just sit there, in the cold, for hours, waiting for him to wake up? Either she wasn't really alone for all those hours (ie, she was also in the motel room), or there are other parts of the night she is omitting. And if her son is also being called an accessory, I really think we are not getting the whole story from her (surprise!). It seems the detectives think there's more to her involvement. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. If her story is actually true, then it seems she'd be accessory after the fact (tampering with evidence, helping the suspect).

Love this place. You missed the breakfast burrito, which is one of the better breakfast burritos to be found in Boulder, especially at that price. My partner and I usually get one breakfast burrito, one pierogi plate, and an extra plate. We split each, and it's perfect.

Also, this article has quotes from people signing the petitions, both sides. http://ncacblog.wordpress.com/2013/07/17/read-em-... It states: "Few if any of the complainants have read the book in its entirety." Also, many of the parents signing the 'ban it' petition seem to be under the impression their kids will be forced to read it, when it's fairly clear that alternate assignments are accepted.

Some things that jump out at me immediately: This is an AP English class, for college credit. This book is totally appropriate for a college course. If your child is not mature enough to read this book, your child should not be taking an AP English course. I personally think it's appropriate for high school students in general, but in this specific case, I feel you can't be banning books for being inappropriate in a college class. And then this: "Opponents of the book said they don't want to ban "The Bluest Eye" from school library collections or to hinder student access to reading material, but don't want the book taught in schools." So.... these parents are okay with kids picking it up and reading it on their own, but not okay with them reading it at the same time as their peers and then discussing it with guidance from a qualified teacher? I cannot comprehend that stance. Wouldn't you want them to get some context from the English teacher? Wouldn't you want them to discuss the tough topics of the book with others? This is silly. Shame on these parents. What are you going to do when they go off to college? Follow your child to college, demand to see the syllabus, and then pester their professor? Good grief.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder DA, legislator, support reprieve for Dunlap - Boulder Daily Camera

So, what is the death penalty for? Why do you support it? Does everyone here think it deters crime? Can you point to any study that shows that the death penalty deters crime? What is the difference between a life in prison without parole, and killing someone? When you kill someone for killing someone, who is helped? Who benefits? What is the benefit? Last night, I saw some friends on Facebook saying Dunlap should die. They are Catholics who are anti-abortion. I cannot understand this disconnect. If he spends the rest of his life in prison, he can't hurt anyone. So what good comes from the state putting him to death? Also, can anyone point to a study, a survey, even an interview where families of victims are better off if the killer is put to death vs. spending their life in prison? I'm just curious here. I want to foster discussion. I think it's unfair to say people support the atrocity of Dunlap's crimes just because they want to death penalty repealed.

I have a similar problem. This summer, we're putting in cactus and yucca along the sidewalk. It's hot and dry there anyway, so the grass looks terrible. This is a win-win for us. I'm tired of literally picking up other's people $h!t

Meh, I got pulled over for running a green light - I had witnesses in the car who had also noticed it was mostly definitely green when I went through, not red - and I stood up for myself. Because I was defending myself, repeatedly, I was sure the state patrol man would write me a ticket. He did not. He was very rude, and told my spouse to shut up. Probably didn't want to see me in court. Maybe he realized my passengers would probably come to court with me.
