Really? ...I think there is a lot more history and emotion to this than anyone who is not a Kiwi can possibly begin to understand, ..but then this was a tough one for us to publish because it is after all a sporting perspective, ...and we know with this there are always two very different loyalties.
Thankfully we have 22 large men more than happy to settle this matter on our behalf, ...which they have now more than admirably done.

You're mixing up politeness with decency. Zac is polite. He was bred that way. He's also bred to know how to deflect arguments and not have to answer questions.

Jon is doing more than "just his job". He's speaking truth to power. And power doesn't like that.

In conclusion, Zac is a twat. Jon Snow isn't. But we all knew that.

You're exploring an interesting angle here Rafer.
What I would like to see is the evidence to back up your argument.
What are the good reasons DFiD or HMG have to not lend a humanitarian hand?
I realise that we can't solve every disaster but, you do make very pertinent points about there not being such a personal connection to Haiti in the UK - we spent more money on the Pakistan quake in one month than we have in six months of Haiti.... The fact we have a strong Pakistan connection is a factor in that. But Haiti is no lesser a tragedy. There are more dead in a tiny patch of land in the Caribbean than there are in the whole of the South Asian tsunami disaster of 2004.
