As Unions are structured today: a small shop that gets plagued by a union, they not only have to make sure benefits are administered correctly, pay is dealt fairly, and conditions are kept safe. They have to worry every 1-3 years that they are going to incur a huge expense increase due to 'benefits negotiation'. This is not what a union was ever intended for. Again, Unions in their current form are a direct assault on a capatlist society. They need to be regulated to the point they are not 'Third Party Administrators' for compensation and benefit negotiation. Again, if people want to improve their pay and benefits, they need to improve themselves and move onto companies offering these better benefits, or obtain these benefits themselves.

1. You were compensated fairly for the time you worked. IMPORTANT: this does not mean they negotiate your hourly wage. They make sure if you work 50 hours, you get paid for 50 hours correctly. 2. Your working conditions are safe. 3. If either of the above 2 items are violated, the body as a whole would retaliate against the offender (the company) and either cause it significant harm, or the company would resolve the issue quickly as to avoid the first consequence.
Nowhere does a union, in it's original and purest form include the negotiation of benefits, job descriptions, holidays, wage, or anything else. The company sets that, and if you want better, you go to a company that offers better or start your own. Hello capitalism!
