On right wing blogs you will find a political agenda behind the "research" 99 percent of the time. I would say 100 percent, but I leave a little room for the occasional well thought out opinion.
It would have to come to a vote unless you are talking about a violent coup. In which case we would meet force with force and it would be quashed and the leaders tried for treason. See that's the problem traitors. If you are going to do it, you better be sure.
No state is really interested in being an independent country. Even here in Texas, the subject will come up during the Republican primary because there are some right wing whack jobs that it appeals to... but if it came to a vote it would lose by thirty points. So unless you are talking about some kind of military coup de tat, I don't think your are going to convince the majority of the people to leave.
It's not nearly so sinister. My website is hosted on my own server. And when anybody clicks on it they get my information and leave theirs. It's how the www works. I'm not mining for anything. I'm not interested in anyone's personal data because I've never been threatened and have had no need for it. Occasionally someone will take a little too much interest in me personally so I let them know they are not as anonymous as they think they are. That's usually enough to cool their jets.
