donald duck you were SO CLOSE to a brilliant idea. listen: this is the 2nd "lonely terrorist" story I've read in the past few weeks, and I bet there are more. (it makes sense...confused lonely kids find a sense of belonging when they join a jihadi group.)

so how about someone sets up a website where these lonely guys can talk/IM/email with virtuous and also lonely females? no need to get them all in a room for predator drones then, Duck, you'll have their IP addresses.

oh but I forgot: DHS already had all the info they needed to find this one, they just decided not to use it.

he only said B+ to show how humble he is, as someone pointed out above. but what's funny is I think he really believes it! he really, truly thinks he's doing a swell job. this despite the fact that the right AND the left are pissed off at him.

this was the intellectual candidate? this was the guy who was going to show just how dumb George W. Bush really was? yeah...

I have to say I don't get this. doesn't Obama understand that people are concerned about his well-being? the scandal is that someone uninvited got as close to the POTUS as they did. but for some reason he's acting all defensive. what's up with that? as Conan O'Brien said "a gate-crasher named Tareq Salafi and nobody questioned that?"

so we have to assume that Obama wanted them there, but didn't want it to be known that he wanted them there. why? is there something to the Rashid Khalidi connection some people are blogging about?

this is my favorite bit:

(41) All merchants may enter or leave England unharmed and without fear....This, however, does not apply in time of war to merchants from a country that is at war with us....

they released the first 500 out of 100,000 names? wow. that's pretty transparent.

we are LOST, LOST if we allow this kind of thing to keep happening. this is AMERICA! or it used to be anyway. if we don't wake up and stand up for our rights, we're all gonna be paying the jizyah soon...

that last panel is an absolutely perfect depiction of the Let Them Eat Cake administration. I want a print of it!

Keith Olbermann has been referring to Glenn Beck as "Lonesome Rhodes" for weeks now. so now you know where Ben's getting his talking points from...he's not even creative enough to think up his own slurs.

let's face it, he's related to someone famous, and that's the only reason he's on the same airwaves as Robert Osborne, who is absolutely wonderful. I also agree with other posters that Alec Baldwin's been pretty good! as long as you can keep him off politics, he's actually a very bright and interesting (and funny) guy.

I am delighted to see the shout-out to my home town, the People's Republic of Ann Arbor. and I'm not surprised to hear that our high school teachers use that book. this is the home of the SDS, you know--and also, speaking of lefty historians, home of Kenny Burns, with whom I went to high school.

great article--I too love the black and whiteness of the '50s movies. (and btw I think they must have retitled "the Thing" to "Mothra" so as not to cause confusion with "The Thing," one of the few movies where the remake was just as good as the original.)

one point of disagreement: while most franchises suffer as one moves further from the original, I can't say the same about the "Nightmare on Elm Street" series. "Wes Craven's New Nightmare" is a stunningly entertaining movie. watching the characters play themselves AND the characters is just too fun. I could watch this movie a hundred times.
