Edgar Hoover" (a fine film, by the way), Broderick Crawford, as Hoover, discusses the gay rumors with Tolson, played by Dan Dailey. He refers to the rumors as, "...the old communist smear". It is a well known communist tactic to smear opponents as homosexual. In the final analysis, why is Barney Frank "gay" but J. Edgar Hoover a "dirty fag"? What say, libs?
