Thank you for doing this and trying to expose these groups....now if congress can do something about it without Rahm/Pelosi and Obama blocking their moves! Keep it up and thank you!

It is not the speech most conservatives have an issue with, but rather the assignment to accompany. "Write a paper on how you can help the President, why you admire the president" and more. Not only are the questions arrogant, leading on political agenda but they are illegal as no federal agency is allowed to pass curriculum on to school districts. I have no issue with the president/first lady speaking to my children or coming into the classroom and reading to my children...but I do object when assignments are passed along with the appearance that break the law!

Patrick you have your facts wrong. It was the democrats that started the KKK and Al Gore’s father that spoke out against equal rights for blacks on the floor of congress. You also misspelled boycott. This is not an issue of race nor is it an issue of bi-partisan politics. The DOE does not have the right to overstep the codes/laws/statues in place that prohibit the passing of curriculum from the federal govt. to the state school. I do not support the president's views or agenda but I don't have an issue with him speaking to my children. The issue is usurping state rights by pushing a curriculum which statue prohibits. Funny how you call conservatives racist when it is Van Jones, Presidential Advisor, that used profanity to describe republicans and the DHS and OFA call conservatives "right wing domestic terrorists".....hmmm pretty sure that racist comment goes to the democrats and presidential staff.

You just did what you accuse the schools of. Have you read the speech? You assume it will be but you do not know. Texas code allows parents and teachers to preview all curriculums prior to it being used. The problem is not with the speech of the president it is with the assignment. The DOE has ignored laws in place that prohibit them from passing curriculum on to states or schools. The school districts are following the code and the law...too bad the same can't be said of the federal government.

So people who have a problem with the president trying to break the law are white trailer trash? LTISD the second most wealthy zip code in Austin white trailer trash? As an outsider Dr. X what do you think of the human race? " The Obama Administration ignored statutes forbidding the Department of Education from creating and disbursing curriculum to the states."<a href="http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-9115-Houston-S..." target="_blank">http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-9115-Houston-S...

The State Ranking has nothing to do with Section 26 of the Code. Do you want to argue the state ranking? Section 26 requires parents and teachers to be able to preview all curriculum before it is taught in the class. A live presentation doesn't allow for a preview and therefore it is against code. Insult if you wish it only proves you don't have the ability to argue the facts.

The president’s staff calls conservatives "right-wing domestic terrorists" (from his OFA website) and his advisor Van Jones calls republicans a-holes........and his administration puts out a report after the first round of Tea Parties calling us "terrorists" and comparing us to Timothy McVeigh. Who needs to open their hearts?

If the President wants to address children on the importance of education or on civics great not a problem with this. Not all questions asked are on education. Why would one ask children, that by law must be in school (due to age), if they can do what the President is asking of them? If he is asking them to stay in school and the law requires it then what does the question pertain to? Texas State Code requires parents and teachers to preview information before it is added to the curriculum....so why would the President ask Texas Teachers to ignore the code and law of Texas? Teachers that do decide to view the speech are mandated to follow the worksheet and questions provided by the White House....the reason many teachers have opted not to show it in their classroom at all. The issue is not with the President giving a speech the issue is the way it is being done!

To make matters worse the president is ignoring Texas Education Code! Texas Ed. Code section 26 says that parents are encouraged to participate in the creation of educational programs and that programs will be made available in advance.....so is this speech even legal per our state code? The speech will be live and therefore teachers and parents will not have the ability to pre-screen it. Why would any president go against the codes established by the educational boards of individual states? Seems "Fishy" to me.

Why would the President ask 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 year olds to write a paper about “What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about?" "What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people?" "Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?" Those questions come directly from his website and the assignment on Sept. 8th. If the speech was to be about staying in school and how important education is then there would be no objection. However the above questions are agenda questions and it is not the role of the President to talk agenda with those too young to vote. Why would any child not be able to "do what the president is asking" if by law they have to stay in school at this age. What would the president be asking of the American ppl. related to elementary school children?
