“There is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it’s because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It’s your mission on earth... And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” ~ from The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream
Emerson: “There’s nothing capricious in nature, and the implanting of a desire indicates that its gratification is in the constitution of the creature that feels it.”
Goethe: “Desire is the presentiment of our inner abilities, and the forerunner of our ultimate accomplishments.”
I feel a great resonance with the idea that our TRUE desires are expressions of the soul of our universe. When we are truly connected with our way of serving mankind there is a seamless (but certainly not without challenges and opportunities growth) manifestation of our endeavors. There is no ego wrestling with pride and hubris, competition or comparison, fear or doubt. Instead, we flow. That is, we allow the universe to flow through us. What a great reminder.
I love the idea of affecting vs infecting. A very potent summary of the energy we give and the energy we receive. Speaking of giving and receiving. To give and to receive in balance is powerful
Rest before you get tired is practical advice and when followed results in healthy bodies and sharp minds that ultimate allow us to be guided by our spirits. Rest before you get tired is also a powerful metaphor for living. It is Covey's sharpen the saw. When we do this we avoid overcompensating with might and will which allows to flow from source.
The reinforcement from Covey today is the idea of habit six (synergy--the whole is greater than the sum of its parts) and habit four (think win/win). Looked at differently, life is like a puzzle with no two pieces being alike and no extras. Every piece is needed. In order for the puzzle to be complete (synergy) every piece has to be in its unique place. That is, no piece of the puzzle can replace another of the puzzle. Each piece must be in place for the next piece to be in place (win/win.) Life is service. Service is the elevation of self through the elevation of others. That's win/win which create synergy, the completion of a puzzle with the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Be well.
Every time I am exposed to the Four Agreements I gravitate to 'don't take things personally' as my favorite and the one I need work on the most. Today though, it occurred to me that the one I use the most is 'be impeccable with you word.' Word are powerful; they carry energy, convey meaning, and leave imprints. It is a great reminder that we can help each other function from our highest selves with the impeccability of our words. Be well.
