Thanks for your response. As a Realtor and a broker, there is no way I would allow any of my agents to \"backdate\" a contract. I agree that is fraud and illegal, and anyone doing that should be prosecuted. Also, as a Realtor, a resent your blanket statement that \"Senators are walking with the Realtors hand in hand to encourage fraud.\" I do not know of any Realtors that are doing this and would certainly report them if I did. Given the amount of time it takes for short sales to close, I understand the need for any extension. My office has several short sales that were ratified prior to the contract deadline and are likely to miss the June 30 settlement deadline. I, as well as my agent and clients, are hopeful that an extension will be granted. This would help many clients in my office and I am sure we are not alone. Should the extension be three months? That is an entirely different matter, but since we are seeing many closings for short sales take 6 months or longer, I will enjoy the added time to bring these transactions to successful settlements for the sake of our clients.
