I am a conservative. I couldn't be more pleased with how this election cycle turned out. What I don't want to see is gerrymandering. As much as I want to see conservatives elected in 2012. I want honest play. If we can win this big with the way districts are now there is no reason to gerrymander districts. If they do, then it's another sign of principles be damned. I didn't like it when gerrymandering made my vote feel like a pin in a haystack and I am not comfortable with doing it to someone else to win. I don't agree with the other side but that doesn't make it alright for me to support rigging the race against them before it even starts. If those that won follow the same path on gerrymandering it will signal to me they aren't any different when it comes to honest elections than the other side is. I ask that we all call on republicans to do redistricting honestly!! It should be shouted as loudly as constitutional governing, stop spending, cut taxes, personal responsibility and transparency.

Yes I am opposed to big government. When what it calls helping is more like forcing myself and my kids to live that way. Costing even more than it needed to instead of just helping one disabled childs family with health care for her. That seems more ironic to me.

I am not saying I am not thankful for the help of knowing she can get medical when she needs it. But it put myself and her sisters in a position to live on barely anything because were I to try and work my other daughter would have lost her coverage. That puts 4 of us in the system instead of just one. It made me feel helpless and hopeless. Being told I can get fuel after regular customers because I have a fuel voucher when a snow storm is coming. Having to sleep in one room with my kids for heat once that runs out. Going with no water for days because you couldn't pay the water bill. No hot water when you couldn't afford propane. Having electric companies make you pay another $500.00 deposit because your late on your electric bill to many months that year. Going through that because the system says if I make more than a certain amount a month they will take her medicaid away. 18 years we had to live like that. That doesn't help people it's locks them into poverty. It costs taxpayers more and demoralizes people.

LOL it's heartless to think that instead of a handout it's better to give a hand up to something you can do for yourself. I had to spend years on the system of hand-outs that makes it harder for people to get out of it than to stay on it. So tell me how great it made me feel to stay in that state of demoralization for years because it was the only thing I could do to ensure my disabled daughter had what she needed.

I went into the school board office to turn in paperwork to the superintendent for my daughter to home school last Friday. While I waited I noticed a large board they had in the office had a large world map with the slogan “Closing the global achievement gap one student at a time”. All I could think was, “what the hell does that have to do with educating the kids in a small town in Virginia?” No wonder I think my daughter would get a better education at home.

Indeed! I like your thinking my friend. Someones race is only relevant as a physical description.

Reagan, how do you even attempt to marginalize this man and what he did as President? He ended the Cold War. How does someone make that out to be "no big deal"? His speeches where inspiring and filled with love of country and freedom.
As for the education at the right College. LOL I know someone with 4 masters degrees that couldn't find her way out of Texas! Seriously, called crying because the written directions were wrong and freaking out. I know stopping and grabbing a map to find out where you are and where you are wanting to go is genius.

Hehehe very cute. It truly is such a shame to have those that want to make color a dirty thing. I know I have never been racist I wasn't raised that way. I didn't raise my kids that way. The crazy thing is that we find ourselves trying to figure out how to talk depending on the person. My oldest niece is mixed and I find myself when talking to different people struggling to figure out what word to use because mixed could offend someone. Same thing with whether to use African American, Black, Afro American, or Brown. It is what makes this article so wonderful.
