It is amazing the group think here. You are not making a lot of sense. You like Wal-Mart because of the low prices and their ability to get others in the same market to lower their prices as well. HOWEVER, you like big oil because they limit supply and drive up prices and get the government of each state to pass a law that the price at a gas station must be within 2 cents of all other gas stations in a given geographical area "to preserve product flow", (when in fact, that law was passed so that independents could not sell their product for 25 cents or more cheaper than the big boys were selling at the time (late 1970's and early 80's is when these laws were passed) to put the independents out of business and lessen competition. I say PUMP MORE, and make Big Oil have to start relying on margins again.

Now, I don't know who is in charge at BigGovernment, but someone is intentionally NOT getting the message. Obama is doing BIG OIL BIDDING. PROOF, you ask? SARAH PALIN PROVED IT! How? Exxon was "lease sitting" on the North Slope oil field. Why? Because to develop it would HURT THEIR PROFITS, due to the Oil Cartel method of keeping supplies lean. But Exxon had a cover story, they held the leases for more than 20 years, but REFUSED TO DEVELOP IT, Sarah Palin called them on it, and threatened to pull their leases, in fact two of their leases at the Point Thompson field were revoked by the State of Alaska due to her recommendation at the end of the Murkowski administration. Exxon had to develop it or they would lose more, just the mention of them actually drilling sent oil prices tumbling, at a time when gasoline prices were above $3 per gallon, that sank them back to $2 per gallon, and Exxon's and all other Oil companies profits went down due to the excessive amounts of crude on the market. Then along comes someone to do their bidding in the disguise of ENVIRONMENTALISM, the total ban on development the Obama administration placed on it. What happened to Exxon's profits with a leaner crude supply? Just look at their last quarter.
Now some will argue that it is in the interest of the share holders of Exxon Stock for them to make the most profit they can. That may be true, but for most of us who do not own Exxon Stock, it is hurting our ability to buy other goods and services which would help the economy. I guess the greed is good mentality is alive and well in the Oil Market. But what about what is just? God has something to say about an uneven scale, He calls it an abomination. Why? It hurts others ability to buy more with their money. You say, how does this compare with an uneven scale? When Oil Companies engage in subterfuge by paying politicians to make laws that undercut the people they are suppose to be representing, when oil companies sit on leases so that oil will be in short supply, and when they take subsidies form the taxes of people that they are gouging, that is an uneven scale.
I do not have proof, but I suspect very highly, that big oil companies make contributions to the very environmental groups that are opposed to drilling as well. It helps their bottom line!
