Janice, I agree this is disrespectful to the office she holds. That being said, her actions as of late are much more disrespectful to the office than this "pie hole" comment. In my opinion, respect is earned, and not an automatic benefit. If she does not demonstrate a respect for the office she holds, then why should anyone else show her any respect?
So Chucky, when are the Dems going to be done blaming the Bush administration for everything, or at least bringing him into EVERY conversation? Just once I would like to hear a reasonable response to a challenging question without hearing about Bush doing this or Bush doing that. News Flash: Barack Obama is the president now.
I remember the press talking about waterboarding a number of years ago. I never read any details, but there were articles discussing the basic concept. How can the speaker say now that she didn't know it was going on? The press has been covering this for quite a while, and I don't recall hearing much from her complaining about it. If the "average joe" can read it in the paper, a committe member in Congress should know the details. Either she is lying to the American people about not knowing about waterboarding, or she didn't understand the concept and is incompetent. Either way, she is unfit to be a member of Congress.....let alone the Speaker of the House!
Actually, I think the report of Harry Reed stating he wishes BO would refrain from appointing a JUDGE to the Supreme Court is more of a news story. He feels Senators or Governors (past or present) would do a better job! I guess the next thing he will recommend is that from now on, you really don't need to be a doctor to work as a surgeon!
My point of view is that respect is earned, not an automatic...regardless of the individual. Just because someone does what is expected of them, doesn't justify to me that they are deserving of respect. Respect is earned by going above and beyond the call of duty regardless of the situation at hand.
BO only authorized action because this was a kidnap situation, in which he was required to authorize action. This is basically doing his job....The real credit belongs to the Captain and the Navy Seals.
What is up with Gates? Why does he not stand up to the administration and put the military ahead of political ideals?
To be honest, I feel we are in a time where we are the most vulnerable for a terrorist attack. BO is showing extreme weakness to the world overseas, cutting every major defense mechanism that provides us with the most powerful military in the world. Halting production on the Raptor (which would increase our military strength) is nothing short of idiotic. I wouldn't be surprised if we experience a terrorist attack sometime this year. I hope not, but that is my fear!
