I decided to have dinner with friends instead. While I do care about my country, I do not see the need to waste my valuable free time (because after he gets done- I will need to work 90 hours a week to pay for it) watching him blow smoke up my rear over a pie in the sky plan that has no hope of working.

You do not need to have pre-paid minutes or a wireless plan to dial 911 from a cell phone. Any cell phone that is charged can reach 911.

So why are the free minutes required?

Notice how there are no direct lines between consumers and health care providers?

Okay- you do not need to read beyond the 1st sentence to know that this bill is in part a smoke screen for other projects... "To provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans
and reduce the growth in health care spending, and
for other purposes."

The healthcare reform part disturbs me but whatever the "other purposes" are disturbs me even more

Sad really, that some with their blind hatred of our former President would deem it appropriate to go after those men and women on the front lines who have helped keep us safe during the last 8 years. I wish they would get over it and start paying attention to what their guy is now pulling.

The next attack cannot be blamed on Bush. The blame can be placed solidly on the shoulders of those who made our front line defenders to afraid to do their jobs.

It seems odd that we want to tax "the rich" to pay for services that they are unlikely to need or use. "The reich" can afford medical care and medical insurance. "The rich" can pay for their food, gas, heating bills, mortgages and education for their children.

"The rich" seem to use fewer services than the rest of us, yet our congress is constantly expecting them to pay for more. I wonder how long it will take "the rich" to move their money and jobs elsewhere and leave the middle class holding the bag?

I find it slightly ironic that when a 3am call comes in to deal with the N. Korea situation it is the John McCain who will be the one coming to the rescue.... and not the Barack Obama

What happens when the government achieves what it wants and controls the decisions we make to the point where no one smokes, drinks alcohol or sugared drinks, eats at McDonalds because of the punishing taxes? Oh, I know- health care costs will go down because we are all engaging in healthier activities so the loss of tax revenue will be made up for by lower healthcare costs... win-win for everyone right?

So here is the question that no one will ask.... what about the jobs of the liquor store clerks, soft drink bottlers, fast food employees.... how much will it cost me to support them while they are on welfare/ unemployment?

Here is what makes me wonder..... leading up to the election I was called several times by the polling people. For a while I was an undecided voter- the last time I was called - during the bank meltdown in September- I was asked who I was leaning towards- when I answered McCain- the pollster said in a very suprised voice- REALLY!?

After that, no more phone calls.....

HMMMMMM? They were calling us weekly from about Mid June through September- once I expressed a view toward McCain they stopped..... this was Gallup by the way. Sooooo? Biased? I don't really know but it seems a little odd to me.

As far as how I feel about the President, I think he is a great guy- I think is heart is probably in the right place. I also feel that 90% of his policies are wrong for our country. I think he is steering us to a place I frankly do not want to go. So, if you polled me today, if you asked if I approved of him personally, I would likely say yes. If you asked him if I approved of his governance I would say heck no. So polls in part depend on the question that has been asked

That would be the same one! Unfortunately she forgot to read the part about the AIG bonuses.
