I think the move will somewhat light a fire under Wright to be more of contact hitter than a power hitter

I agree. I don't think they'll win the division, but they'll be competitive. They have good nuclear of young talents. Their defense is terrible though.

Yes he does have lots of talent. I wish he would hit 50 HRs and 150 RBIs this year. He's in my fantasy team lol

This is something that the Mets should do. Beat the teams that they should beat like the Nats or Padres or Brewers, etc... They had trouble doing that last year.

I like Castillo at #2 as he has been playing well. Murphy and Church combo at #6 and 7 will give you more depth.

They don't have heart and need fiery Manager/Leader is overrated. I'm sure it can help to some degree. But what evidence do we have to show that current players are not fiery and all heart? How do we know that Wright is burning up inside after all the Ks (sigh...)? You don't need to jump up and down and scream like a kid to show that you have hearts. Does anyone question Jeter's heart and desire to win? But he's not a scream rah rah type of leader. I don't question any of these guys' desire and heart to win (maybe with exception of 1 or 2 individuals (cough cough Ollie.....). I think they just need to find a rhythm to get things going. Remember last year? Mets got off to a terrible start 1st half, but got real hot 2nd half till last week (sigh...). They need 1 or 2 hot streaks to get themselves going. Still too early in the season.

Here's what I think the season will pan out. It will be very close tight 4 team race for NL East. Mets rotation will be inconsistent after Johan. So will the offense, but Bullpen should be solid.

I think more than anything that I was surprised was lack of fans who really followed the Mets. I think about 75% of the fans (for the opening day) were casual fans who wants to have fun at the park and drink beer.
