Breitbart used John Stuart Miill's famous truth that 'while not all conservatives are stupid most stupid people are conservative' as a guide to corral the support the less intelligent and less educated (as most of his fan's postings here prove).
Like a majority of his mouth-breathing chickenhawk followers, Breitbart mouthed patriotism and hawkish positions while being too cowardly to serve in the military. He crowed about making himself a success while not mentioning his rich mommy and daddy's role. A hypocrite of the highest caliber his death makes this country a cleaner and more decent place overnight.
Americans and real patriots with an IQ over room temperature say good riddance!

Sure fruitcake, up your meds. There was an independent investigation by the Clark Clifford, a Naval Board of Inquiry, a JCS investigation, a Senate investigation and a House investigation. The press and other media covered the issue for months on end. Nice cover-up.

Vlahos is giving this bankrupt doctrine credence and that in itself is dangerous. It's also very cynical to use it as a ploy to support the position of pulling troops out.
If you choose to ignore all the reports of the success of not kicking down doors and shooting up civilian cars in favor of adopting a less aggressive, reach out to communities, and hold out an olive branch to your enemies approach then certainly I won't convince you.
In a less sarcastic sense that you meant, yes I am an 'expert'; Part of my training was in effectiveness of what you might call the 'hearts and minds' doctrine.

1. From my own observations in country before and after, the historical data on successful COIN (Gentile is wrong here), most expert opinion and the overwhelming amount of evidence, Vlahos is simply dead wrong about the kinder, gentler Hearts and Minds strategy not being viable.
2. By trotting out Gentile's critique of COIN and his 'blast the hell out of them' approach as the only real alternative (and so let's leave) she gives credence to a dangerous and lethal point of view that deserves none.
I'll use hand puppets and crayons next time if you like. ;-)

Quote from Ricks blog: "So let's get this straight: Antiwar.com promotes Gian Gentile, who argues that we should conduct COIN in the form of 19th-century British punitive raids, as the Army's shining light. Ergo, Antiwar.com is in favor of more Predator drone strikes and "direct action" counterterrorism?"
Spot on and shame on you Vlahos.
