KOMO - Seattle, WA : Missing woman's father: Visit to campsite 'confirms it' | KOMO News - Breaking News, Sports, Traf

my thought is he pulled off the side of some road somewhere else. Could have been just about anywhere else, it's a huge area up there. The one thing about the road conditions that night, it would have made it very difficult to bury a body as he'd have to go through lots of snow just to reach dirt. Dirt that would have been frozen. Only problem is, animals could have found it, and who knows if or when humans would find any remains.

Scott Peterson was far more intelligent. He was a much better actor at "pretending" to grieve too.

Without a body, it's hard to connect josh to her "disappearance" to a degree that will survive court. The prosecutors office only get's one chance. They want to make sure they have a rock solid case before they go to court. My condolences to the family, and I hope they do find her body so this case can move forward.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Hit-and-run driver pleads guilty in baby's death | KOMO News - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic and W

Even if it was *technically* four- eight year sentence, if it's concurant and NOT consecutive, it works out to ONE-eight year sentence, or two years behind bars per person. In the end, the time served is what counts - and he won't be serving much for what was vehicular homicide. (call it whatever they want, he used his car to kill four people. He CHOSE to get behind the wheel when he was drunk.) Generally DUI's aren't caught on the first offence, but after multiple times driving. I'm willing to lay odd's he DUIs after he's out. Hopefully no one will be killed next time he drives drunk.

There is something wrong with the system all right. Yesterday, KOMO had the report on McDonald, who in Nov drove drunk, crashed into another car, killed four people, ran from the scene and was caught by police. He got two years per person killed = eight years. (that judge has no sense of value for human life.) This guy, drove drunk, crashed into another car, killed an infant, ran from the scene, was caught by police, eventually willingly pled guilty, and is being sentenced to 18 years for one person. The court system need some lessons in math. preferably using an old-fashioned balance scale as a learning tool. punishment shouldn't differ to that great a degree just because it's a different county.

He's "accepted responsibility". define that please. Does that mean he *has* quit drinking? Oh, yeah. he's been in JAIL so he can't get a drink even if he wants one. And he can't drive because he isn't going anywhere. the only TRUE evidence he's "accepted responsiblity" is if he were to NEVER DUI again, and make restitution to the families - which I don't see either. (aside from the little detail that nothing can make up for losing their loved ones.) Two years per person is pretty lame for what should be vehicular homicide. Of course, if he hadn't been drunk, it probably would have been a longer sentence for running the light and killing people.

that's assuming premeditation. I think it's more likely he blew his top and 'accidently" killed her then had to scramble to cover it up. His alibi was certainly lame.

Simpson Springs is open year round. But at 5100 ft there would still be snow on the ground. The interesting thing is it is a fee'd campground. I wonder if the BLM (who manages it) would have a receipt for him, proving he was actually there? Something should have turned up in the van. <a href="http://www.publiclands.org/explore/site.php?id=14..." target="_blank">http://www.publiclands.org/explore/site.php?id=14...

Simpson Springs Campground sits at 5100 ft eleveation. It has been covered in snow. It's very difficult to do a search when *everything* is covered by snow. Even the "friends" aren't going until NEXT month when the spring-thaw will be well underway. You owe the "law enforment folks" an apology.

just establish that if the party bringing suit loses, that lawyer/firm forgoes fees from the client. iow - the lawyers can't collect unless they actually win.. They won't bring a suit they dont' think they have a good chance of wining, because that is their time and time is money, and they'd be out both the time and the money. it'll throw cold water on the ambulance chasers (who are the slimies who give all lawyers a bad name.)

The county "pool" board looks at how long will a trial probably last, how much will it cost for lawyers, expert witnesses, court costs, etc. and EVEN IF THEY WIN, they spend more on a trial than a settlement. Of course, they neglected to calculate the costs of now additiona lawsuits from ambulance chasing lawyers who are encouraged to be greedy. This ambulance chaser knew he didn't have a case, but since he'll get about half of that settlement (and all he cares about is the $$$), he wins. What we *really* need, is tort reform in the way of litigating losers pay ALL the winner's legal fees. THAT will stop frivolous lawsuits that lead to stupid settlements because it's cheaper than going to court. It will also clear the court calendars for legitimate needs.
