Join the facebook group called "Save school music!" to show your support. This is a disgrace! There are so many young people who stay in school because the arts and music programs help them to save their sanity and stay interested in the education process. This group was started by a high school sophomore several years ago, and has raised $8000 in direct donations for struggling music programs, and they also were awarded a Chase Community Giving grant of $50,000 for music programs in the schools. By the way, that high school sophomore went on to study orchestral performance in college. Let's support our young people when they are trying to do the right thing. Maryland's Attorney General Doug Gansler, in an interview on the Sherri Eliker Show on WBAL @ 11:30AM stated that he does not have jurisdiction and the case would have to be referred to his office , else it would be illegal for them to look into it. Baltimore City State's Attorney Patricia Jessamy stated that she does not have jurisdiction to prosecute ACORN, that it would be the Maryland AG, Gansler. Feels like a game of Hot Potato, and everone in law enforcement is deflecting this. I am SO moving out of Maryland nexct June, when my son graduates!!!!

My high school senior posted the following question on Facebook: Anyone pumped for Obama's school spirit speech???? He posted it at 11PM on a school night, and already has 37 replies from fellow students, both pro and con. These kids are THINKING! Here was my comment to them... I'm SOOO proud of you! This is a good opportunity tomorrow to analyze the concept of propaganda and rhetoric. The text of the speech was released tonight. The President uses the word "I" 56 times. He uses the word "Country" 3 times. Pay attention, everyone..... With parental involvement, there is hope.

I believe you might be making a snarky comment on my post from the other day. My 17 yr old learned to read with HP. The summer before his junior year, he read Ulysses. The year after the 1st HP came out (he was in 3rd grade) he had already read all the children's book in our library about the Titanic. He then went on to all the adult books about the sinking, and in 4th grade, he read It Happened One Night. He also reads Shakespeare, along with Sports Illustrated. Don't make rude assumptions.

Bravo! I've tried to describe the books to other grown-up non-Potter fans, but not as concisely as you. I will admit that I don't view the movies with an eye for the manner in which a novice (to the storyline) would. I love the latest movie for the outstanding visuals, the return to humour. My 17 yr old son and I were laughing at all the teenage love "angst". I also give Ms. Rowling credit for helping to teach my son to read. When the first book was published, he was struggling to achieve at-grade reading levels. I began reading this book to him at bedtime. Within several months, he was reading to me, and within a year, he was reading at high school level. I also appreciated the values lessons she stressed in the books. She dealt with the death and loss issues very well, and this Mom has been a grateful reader and fan of Harry for years! If you haven't read the stories yet, give it a try. Start with "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone". You won't regret it.

I'll rebut from the bottom up... Not every single f-ing hospital, but George Bush visited wounded soldiers on a weekly basis at Walter Reed--under the radar. I know this- I live in the DC area. Joe Biden had to submit his tax return for the 2007 tax year, as does every politician. It's a public record. I don't think God was trying to teach Job a lesson on suicide. Roe V. Wade made abortion legal in 1974, not your hero Obama. He just wanted the doctors to be able to let late term babies that survived abortions to die on a table or in a closet. I see a lot of citizens who are very demoralized with the position our nation is being placed in. (Sorry, MissQuinn, for the dangling participle). When our President sides with Zelaya, who violated the Constitution of Honduras for a power grab, it makes me want to say, "You DON'T speak for me, Mr. President!"
