Sheet Music was recommended to us before we got married, and now we buy it for EVERYONE that gets married. We should have shares in that book. We even gave it to my parents (at their request), which is just weird, to think of them reading the same stuff on sex as we do!! Our favourite book ever!!
Wow, just read a snippet of comments under the article and thought, 'Jon, you're a brave man'. Putting your stuff out there to the criticisms of the secular world, out of context of this site or of Christian culture...well, you're brave. Hope you didn't take a knocking and just let most of those comments slide.
congrats Jon. I'm sure this was what you wanted to achieve with your work- really touching someone's heart and encouraging them- but not just a regular reader!
Wow. I didn't realise I was going to be judged for what I wrote when I answered Jon's question. And it hasn't been my experience that this is one of those kind of forums, thus the vulnerability in my response. True- you couldn't gauge it but I'm not sure it's your place to decide that. The truth is that I KNOW bad things happen, not just in a rational way, but in an experience way. The truth is that my "worries" are deep psychological anxieties that I'm receiving counseling for. And I'm not sure why I felt the need to justify my response. In my experience of regularly reading this site, SCL is a place where people pray for one another, show support and encouragement for one another, as well as offer humourous and insightful critiques of Christian culture. Or maybe there was some kind of humour implied in the question and I just missed the point.
I worry about something bad happening to my children. "do not worry about anything etc etc" seems to be my life scripture but i still don't get it.
"Spoon with the BIble"- LOL! I'm so glad you were able to use your book to tell your co-workers about Jesus and our very real struggle to consistently live like Him. I guess you really couldn't ask for much more than that- except perhaps to get number two on the all-time best sellers list (it just wouldn't be right to beat the Bible! Or is the Bible no longer #1? I've lost track). I'm excitedly waiting for my copy to arrive.
I thought it was funny that the Anglican Church in Australia has plenty of "Spiritual Directors" and "Directors of Formation" with jobs specific to training up future priests (ie my hubby). We're so hip and with it- that's why the blokes still wear dresses right?
Thank you everyone for your prayers and comments. Very encouraging. I'm glad when I don't feel like I can even pray, people I don't even know and from other countries are happy to pray for me!
Thanks again- I've finally ordered it. Now I know where I can get it cheap enough to buy for other people as and when I need more copies to pass on.
