This is ridiculous. Of course we are moving to a police surveillance state. It seems that Peter would rather wait until the police state has completely formed and consolidated its power before getting outraged about it. The Left certainly doesn't lack the imagination Peter does - they are building it, and we will regret it.

Sorry, but Bush43s Iraq doesn't "dwarf all of them". This is just what you libs keep telling yourselves so you can sleep at night. Removing Iraq as a nexxus of terror in the world was a good thing; Obama kicking over half the governments in the middle east and giving them to the muslim brotherhood was not. That will only become more clear as time goes on.

Anyone who still clings to the Bush "worst ever" memes is simply showing their desperation. If Obama was competent, you'd have something to show for it, and you wouldn't have to wheel out the Bush punching bag for another round. It's so 2005.

It should be noted WHAT "political intelligence" the Watergate burglars were after - the DNC hooker list for the upcoming convention. The GOP thought it could turn a few of the girls into informants. The Watergate affair was the political equivalent of a panty raid. Obama has done much, much, worse.

Honestly, I believe the carriers (and the rest of our navy) are massed there for a reason. Obama has been gutting our military by outing dozens of high-ranking officers in scandals. He created the whole sequestration thing that will cut a trillion from the military next year. A recent Taliban attack destroyed most of our aircraft fleet - we have suffered the largest loss of aircraft since WWII. (Notice you didn't hear much about that.) And one well-placed Iranian nuke in the gulf... and most of our fleet would be gone, too. If someone wanted to literally decimate our military, this would be a good way to do it. Funny how that all works out, isn't it?

13 years ago @ Commentary Magazine - No Vote Fraud? Tell it... · 0 replies · +15 points

@adamhollandblog: states are SUPPOSED TO clean the voter rolls. To maintain the integrity of elections, they have to regularly clean them of all people who have no right to vote. This has been done since the founding of the country, and needs to be done. The author may have conflated different types of voter fraud, but it's still fraud: you're trying to conflate voter fraud with regular maintainence - yours is the bigger lie.

Which is it? Did Rangel "take a page out of the Republican handbook" or did Espaillat "take a page out of the democrat one"? The truth is, it doesn't matter. People who are not supposed to vote are NOT SUPPOSED TO VOTE. And if you want to run a fair election, you have to screen these people out.

Yes, but you are displaying a fundamental ignorance of the new reality - we are now all in the same group now because of the internet. In the olde days of the glorious 3 liberal networks, the populace was much more fragmented. You actually could just target particular audiences. You could go to, say, a wealthy San Francisco fundraiser and tell your donors what you really thought about "those bitter clingers"... and no one would ever find out what you really thought outside that room. But with the magic of cellphones and internet - suddenly EVERYONE hears what you're saying.

Now, this doesn't mean that you can't try to target a single group - say by targeting women by making up a phony war on them - but it also means you're a fool if you think it will stay contained to that group or that there won't be collateral damage elsewhere. Like, when the people you claim are at "war with women" actually aren't. They tend to get upset. And the result, is your propaganda hardens your opposition instead and alienates people who know better.

So, keep that up... it's been working great.

Seriously? Freelance journalists sell stories all the time. National Geo, for example, even finances expeditions. Does that compromise the science conducted?

Face it, the whole purpose of this article is to dismiss the things Brietbart did, not make any arguments about what he found. And who's it directed at? Those on the Right see this as a transparent ploy; you ain't converting anyone. No, this is targeted at your friends on the Left who are starting to look over the fence of your plantation - where the koolaid is free and MSNBC is on all day long.

Sorry to say, but the only person who can save Rhode Island is John Galt.

I left last year because I had no choice; all of my graphics design and programming skills are useless in a state that shed all its IT workers and has a hundred thousands of newly-minted designers. For the first time in 30 years, I wasn't able to afford to live in my own home state. I'm down in Texas now. Things are still difficult; but they're doable. As much as I love Rhode Island, it will never get out of its own way.

Look up Rhode Island in wikipedia and you'll see that it has the distinction of being one of the few "permanently blue states". Perhaps that's a clue as to what the root problem is.

Oh, I'm sure it's ready. The DVDs are pressed, videos encoded and uploaded, the stories researched and done. And when we start to see this stuff come out, we can all smile knowing who was behind it.
