Mark Watches : Mark Watches 'Pushing Daisies': S01E07 - Smell of Success

So, it's probably just because of what's going on in my life, but I am now constantly connecting Pushing Daisies with food allergies. In a recent review Mark connected the idea of triggers to allergies, saying that trigger warnings shouldn't bother anyone without the trigger, just like allergen warnings shouldn't bother you. Then, there's Chuck letting Olive think she's allergic to Ned, and that's why they don't touch. That leads to my next connection, which is that in many ways Ned & Chucks's no-touching issue is a lot like a severe food allergy. You have to be so careful to avoid something that is so normal to everyone else, or you might die, or get very ill. My final connection is the most tragic one, however. I too am craving pies while watching Pushing Daisies. However, I was just diagnosed with Celiac disease, so I cannot have your standard pie (it's not technically an allergy, but all the analogies apply). Luckily, on Tuesday my wife will pick up the Strawberry-Rhubarb pie from the gluten-free bakery, so I can haz pie!

As we have recently become Portlanders, my wife and I are totally looking forward to the non-LeakyCon event. (Don't count this as an extra RSVP, we will RSVP on the Facebook event). Though I'm totally jealous RE: playing Cards Against Humanity with you...

Have You Met Ted - The How I Met Your Mother Blog : Season 5, Episode 2: Double Date Discussion

While Robin not being ok with it was predictable, Cobie's delivery of "Did your whores tell you that" was fantastic. I could see it being in character, but I'm not sure they earned it. The discussion with Barney at the end about the relationship was a start, but since they didn't work towards any closure, it kept it feeling like a cheap gag. Marshall's elaborate fantasy was great.
