Actually shame is a powerful motivator. It would depend on what this man wants to get from this punishment. Much like the drunk you force to AA versus the drunk who goes by choice to better their life. Guess which of those two would get the better benefit out of AA? So if this man truly wants to change, shame may be the motivator to do it. Its not so black and white as you make it to be.

Kitty, I am sure she means well. I get angry when the family feels they must make it their sole goal in life to purge the internet public forum opinions of anything negative about their family. Do we know this man? No. Do we know what he did? Yes. Do we have to sit here and cast warm glowing stories of him, not on a bet. Everything we need to know about him and how he chooses to interact with the public is right here in this story. As another poster submitted this wasnt his first arrest in recent days. So for the daughter she best shut it and disappear. If the family is having as many probelms as she is letting onto then she has a far more important job, than playing internet forum monitor.

I hate to break it to you sweety but this is what the public comment section is for and people are tired of people like your father using their troubles to excuse their behavior. They get even more enraged when the family comes along, like you, and tries further to exuse their behavior while calling them into question. I know personally I have never been arrested of breaking into a business and never will be, its called willpower and morals.
Guns dont just go off. Secondly if this kid has this type of parent in his life, he might be better off without them. Not like his life is not shattered already. I would wager the shatter of losing his mother to jail would be far better then the life shattering he just received shooting someone.
Umm there have been plenty of educated people with lots of valid evidence to the contrary on the opposing view point. The problem is no one, news media, politicians, or companies can make money from a non issue, so they are kept hidden from the public.
Do a little research sometimes and open your eyes. Notice I did not have to make this into a Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal affair. Its not a political event other then an agenda for them.
