Apparently not in Scrabble :)

The Torah has to be read in Hebrew for the community. It can then be reread in English or whatever personally or by the leaders of the congregation. The first Divrei Torah (Synagogue sermons) were actually just recaps in the local language of what had been read in Hebrew.

I wouldn\'t actually suggest it is a good idea. I was just exploring the implications of adding money to what already goes on :)

But certainly kiruv orgs get people in the door with things other than the beauty of Torah contents. Think free alcohol on campus, social events with a little Torah filler or 'popular Kabbalah' sessions. A leining league isn't so far off. In fact, it has more Torah content than most. Once again, I'm not suggesting it - but I do think itis a fun thought piece. I can imagine many a baal koreh calling for instant replay after a blown correction. You can hear it in their voices.

Oh, and whose to say Arthit isn't a sincere convert? Can
