"I’m not suggesting that Obama’s unconstitutional commands to the Catholic Church represent the same degree of evil as Red Chinese or Nazi meddling."

But there is no way to know that it won't go there. Nobody knew what Hitler would do, until it was too late. This is too important to take any risk with, at all.

øbama can say anything he wants - he knows the EPA and a galaxy of regulations will prevent any action. Win/win. A lie is as good as the truth if somebody believes it, right?

This is precisely the kind of zero who would do something crazy to bolster his ego and look good to his "peers". I note a couple comments here seeming to take the position that if Althouse wants to associate with teabaggers, she deserves it. Fascinating thought processes (if you want to call it that) revealed by these libs.

TexasStomp asks a good question. See http://www.american.com/archive/2009/april-2009/t...

It is a discussion of interest groups and the impact on US politics. I think VFW is playing the interest group game, hedging their bets, and has failed to realize that the interest group model is failing.

We regular Americans are spontaneously coalescing into our own interest group. The article talks about revolution, how it can be peaceful, or not. I think that's where we are going. We regular Americans have had it, and one way or another we're going to fix it. All these organizations are playing politics with us, but we are totally tired of being pawns in the game.

Re "Green Jobs", I have had to research them, to fight a large solar project right on the largest remaining riparian forest in the Southwest. Next to residences, on prime ag land, defacing a peaceful, beautiful valley in rural Calif.

These "green jobs" are temporary, require some training, and pay between $11 and $19 an hour, no bennies. The $19 is closer to the cities, out here in the sticks closer to $11. The developer claims he will aggressively hire locals, and help the local Jr. college train locals. Claims 250 year-long jobs. Of the 250, 50 will be supervisors, imported from elsewhere. Of the remaining 200, comparison with other solar projects indicates the likely duration is 7 months, and the actual number will be closer to 110. How excited would you be to take college classes for a 7-month $12/hr job? After the 7-month job, you would have to commute long distances, or move, to find another $12/hr 7-mo. job.

People here are desperate, and will take the jobs, but they are little more than stopgaps. So the "green jobs" promise is a joke. Many of those joining me to fight the project are lib environmentalists.

Great post.

I don't care what they call me, racist or repug or whatever, but I DO care what kind of cracker I am. As a freckled person, I want to know - is there is a pale cracker with poppy seeds? Being from Kentucky, I'm also am the President, and so far the only member, of the NAAH (National Assoc. for the Advancement of Hillbillies). Has a ring to it, don't y'all agree?

Have no idea how to calculate it, but there IS a serious dollar value to what they did. Political contributions are regulated, and advertisements are expensive, but under the guise of "journOlism", a gigantic amount of political advertising was freely given, to candidates and causes that would otherwise have paid for it or done without, and obviously not with an even hand. Of what value to the Dem. Party, and all the many campaigns was that? Would guess it makes Madoff look like a piker.

I dunno, but I'm thinking of starting the National Association for the Advancement of Hillbillies. I'm a hillbilly. Wanna talk about stereotypes? Negative attitudes & assumptions? Being judged for your accent? How about terms like Trailer Trash? Anyone else can live in modular housing without repercussions, but not hillbillies. I have to dress, speak and behave contrary to my traditional and regional customs to get a job, be accepted in a school, and am often shut out of exclusive social circles. We are pushed toward certain careers, such as coal mining, truck driving and chopping tobacco, while opportunities to aspire to such fields as broadcasting and stock portfolio management are closed. And what about the Clampetts? It's racism, permeates our society. It's really pitiful.

NAAH. Has a cachet to it, don't you think? Wonder if there's a chance for Affirmative Action for hillbillies...

JournOlist: It's for their own good, after all, we're saving the country and saving the planet!
TownHOlist: Of course, and imagine what ideas they might come up with if there is variation in the message!
JournOlist: Faux News proves that, look how far off THOSE people get!
TownHOlist: Pitiful, and those people who send their kids to religious school, and all that...
JournOlist: It's a public service, they have no idea how hard we work at saving them confusion.
TownHOlist: But we have to leave a little room, so they believe they are thinking for themselves!
JournOlist: As if they could, what a joke! But we don't want to damage their egos, poor things.
TowhHOlist: No, even if we are misunderstood, we must be compassionate. But we can handle that, after all, we are experienced journalists. All it takes is a little management...
